Prepopik Laxative (Page 10) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHas anyone in the US used this yet for colonscopy and what did it cost?
I just used the prep as well and it did not clean me out well enough either. I have to repeat colonoscopy in 3 months! What a waste of time and money!
I paid $140.00 because my insurance does not cover this. Insurance does cover other brands. This did not seem to work as well as others for me nor as fast. I would not use again.
Procedure was at 9am, drank packet 1 at 5 pm, no results till 11pm, I drank the 2nd packet at 11pm, dr said was cleaned perfect and results great. No cramping, a little full feeling for awhile. Cost was 148.99 but after insurance I only paid 100.00. This was my first colonoscopy so basically all went well. The taste was fine and would use this again. Good luck to all.
Should be taken off the market. Can't believe they're still selling it. I had a horrible reaction, almost knocked out cold, numerous others had similar reports over a year ago. What I'm seeing now looks like "reports" done by the owners of the drug.
I am having those effects now. Took the stuff two days ago, had the procedure yesterday, and today it's like I'm still in hour eight of taking the stuff. Now what? I'm trying probiotics, yogurt, cheese, thinking of Imodium next. It's bad. Not cool!
Re: PlainJane (# 285)
I'm having the same issue! Had my colonoscopy last Wed and it is Monday night and I am still going!
I used Prepopik Sunday for yesterday's colonoscopy....it was $70 but well worth it.......the taste was not so awful and you don't drink as much as the other awful prep. meds...... but you drink LOTS OF CLEAR LIQUIDS which is fine........i drank cold water with a little Gatorade in it,,,,,,and also some clear chicken broth and lemon ice pops
Re: Johnny (# 1)
Prepopik is great.... easy to tolerate.... great pride...my husband is asking for it in January...I got sick drinking the other solution three years ago and was told I was not clear enough had to go back in 3 years instead of 5...all fine last month... Back in 5 years! I did have to take half of magnesium citrate because I called Dr. To say nothing was going on 4 hours after first dose
P.S. the rx cost me $94 at walgreens .. a little pricey but well worth it.
How did your scope go? Excellent cleaning? I was surprised I was as clean as I was! I was used to drinking a gallon. Dr said I was good to go for 5 years :)
I agree with the name thing. It doesn't seem to any relevance to the product. I used it a year ago and my doctor still continues to prescribe Suprep which costs about the same. He had never heard of it when I asked him to write a prescription for it. I had to spell it out for him but he said I was cleaned out and I gave it a great review. I did add the Dulcolax because it didn't seem to work as fast as I thought it should.
CVS $50
Let us know how it works in the end (no pun intended)
Last week I was supposed to have my first colonoscopy. I had a bad reaction to the prep meds (glycolax).. which tasted horrible and I threw it all up. They had to reschedule the appointment to get me different prep medications. I can't believe they wouldn't prescribe me Prepopik from the start. More pricey sure.. but even if it weren't for the bad reaction.. avoiding drinking a whole gallon of glycol was worth the extra hours of work to pay for it.. I was surprised at how much easier this one was to take.
Going through the prep now! I did the 1st packet at 4pm and it took 37 minutes to take hold! No painful cramping. It cost 55.00 at Walgreens and the Dr. gave me a 20% off coupon. It showed that the full retail price is 145.00.
How's your 2nd dose?
Did you consult with the doctor about whether taking the 2 doses on the same day was acceptable ? I hear the prep takes about 5 hours to start working.
My procedure is at 9:15am and was wondering if I could take first dose around noon and the second around 6pm. of course, I will ask my doctor. I would be too afraid that the dose I take at 4am may not kick in until I am at my procedure.
Thanks for all the information you shared. It was helpful and it made me less nervous about what I was expecting to go through. It will be my first time using this product next week. Will definitely tell my doctor I want to do both doses on the same day.
Tia.. It seems you are experiencing what I did.. First dose was a dud,
Second dose taken at 11:30 pm didn't start working till almost 6 am the next day and kept on working for an additional day...procedure was last Friday at 1:30 pm movements didn't stabilize and almost back to normal Saturday evening
I also thought the Prepopik worked slowly. As instructed, I took the first packet at 4pm and second at 10pm with a lot of fluid intake. Nothing happened until 10ish, which had me worried. Still emptying out at 8am with colonoscopy scheduled for 10:30am. Had my colonoscopy Wednesday, and Thursday and today still having stomach upset and rumblings. Although the prep was by far easier to take then the Golytely last time, I did not have any residual effects. I am finding very little info about Prepopik's lingering effects and back to taking Tagamet, Gas-X, etc. until I'm back to normal.
