Will I suffer side effects? ## Hello, Antonio! How are you? Yes, it is very likely that you will, since this is a steroid. Even with short term use for allergic reactions, I experienced body aches/pains, some fluid retention and slight blood pressure elevation. Is there anything else I can help with?
After 2 years on Prednisone at 10mg for RA I'm worried about tapering off and how to do it. My Dr. has moved and I'm not seeing one now. Trying to handle on my own.....Advice, please. ## Hello, Mimi! How are you? If you've been taking it for this long, it needs to be slowly tapered off, by gradual dose reduction. The best thing to do would be to see a new doctor to get their assistance, because they can prescribe the lower dose tablets to help you. There can be some dangerous risks associated with a sudden withdrawal after long-term use. You really need to find a new doctor, anyway, so just doing so now would be the best thing to do. Is there anything else I can help with?

Taking this amox tr-k clv 875-125 mg tasan after two days in hospital for pneumonia. 2ea per day/7 days, plus Decreasing Prednisone tablet regimine. On third dose I began coughing up mucus with large amount of blood in mucus. Before this I had no cough or mucus. Is this a side effect. I have not taken a forth dose. Today is a Saturday so I will contact my Dr. on Monday. Is it safe for me to stop taking after 3 doses as it states not to stop until all pills are taken. ## Hello, Norman! How are you doing? I have been on Prednisone for 3 months, taking 10mg a day. It was not for a pain condition, but rather to aid and support pregnancy. Now that I am 12 weeks pregnant, they are tapering me off. I am to go from 10mg to 5mg for a week, then 2.5mg for a week, then cease. I have been reading up on tapering and a LOT of people refer to dropping 1mg at certain intervals. Is going to 5mg then 2.5mg too fast? I'm unsure whether other people who are dropping 1mg do so because they were on a higher dose initially, but I did wonder..... Obviously i do not want to go into adrenal shock, particularly with the pregnanct. But I am also desperate to get off the Prednisone as well and have been counting the days to start tapering down. ## Yes, it really depends on how high of a dose you were on and fo...
If I get symptom relief after one 25 mg tablet ;do I still need to step down the dosage or can I stop after 1 tablet ## Hello, Tony! How are you? You should follow your doctors instructions. Just because symptoms went away, that doesn't mean that problem has resolved, yet, so you may end up right back where you started, if you don't finish the medication. There can also be serious complications stopping a steroid suddenly. Are there any other questions or concerns?
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates expiration dates on all medications to ensure safety and efficacy. However, it's worth noting that many medications remain effective even past these dates. In fact, a significant quantity of these outdated medicines are donated to countries in need, such as various regions in Africa and Bangladesh, where they can still be of great help. It's important to understand that most medications do not become toxic after expiration, with the notable exception of certain antibiotics. While some, like penicillin, may lose potency over time, adjustments in dosage can sometimes compensate for this reduced efficacy. ## According to the following Harvard Medical School family health article, many medications can actually last up to 15 years ...

I see one side affect is trouble sleeping, so wondering if that can be avoided by when i take it. Also he has me taking it for 14 days at the same dose. I read you need to slowly go off this drug. Is that true for 14 days? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Taking them in the morning is usually best, to try to minimize the insomnia and restlessness at night. From what I've researched anything less than 3 weeks usually doesn't need to be tapered, but you should check with your doctor to be sure. My 20mg prednisone tablets have no expiration date. How long will they maintain their potency and life stored at room temperature around 78 to 82 degrees in fairly dry conditions? ## Hello, Gerry! How are you? If they are still in the original sealed bottle from the factory, then they have a 3 to 4 year expiration date, if kept in a cool, dark, dry location, which would be less than the temperature you've mentioned. If they are in a pharmacy bottle, which exposes them to the elements that cause degradation, then the expiration date is one year from the date they were dispensed to you. I am halfway thru a 10 day course of prednisone for pneumonia. Iam feeling much better except that I have developed a weird feeling as of an overinflated balloon. My body feels very tight. Am I the only one? Lisa12 ## Hello, Lisa12! How are you feeling? No, you aren't the only one that experiences this type of thing. These are very common side effects to most steroid medications, but they should wear off a few days after you finish your course of treatment with it. If they do not, or if they get worse, please consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your response but can you tell me what is causing this tightness?? Is it trapped gas? It is affecting my breathing. Lisa12

What should I do as I took 60 mg today and now not sure how this will effect me as well as what to do tomorrow. ## Hello, Kell! How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse reactions?
