Prednisone Gives Me Insomnia

I was prescribed prednisone 50mg for 5 days on 01/24/2016. I took it for the two first days and the result was insomnia. Spent 48 hours straight awake. Couldn't sleep not even a couple of hours. Third day I didn't take it and called the doctor. They said I should take it the following morning and continue every morning until finish it. They didn't help me with the fact that I wouldn't be able to sleep again. Today is jan 27th I still have 3 more pills to take. I took only half of the pill this morning and my plan is to take half a pill every morning until I'm done. Will I be ok?

That can be a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, acne and weight changes.

However, to treat the condition it was prescribed for, it is best to take the full dose, as directed, for the 5 days required. The side effects should improve several days after you finish your course of treatment. If not, then you should consult your doctor, again.
