Prednisone Tab 20mg

I have a twelve year old son with cystic fibrosis recently prescribed Prednisone 20mg. The prescription is to take 2 tablets twice a day. Does this mean take 2 tablets in the morning and two in the evening?

You should check with his doctor or pharmacist to be certain, but going by the usual pharmaceutical directions, yes, it that normally means you should give him 2 tablets at each dosing.

Otherwise, it should say take one tablet, twice daily, or something similar.


Prednisone is a steroid class medication, so it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, weight gain and fluid retention.

You can also found out by checking the details on the prescription label, for instance checking the number of tablets in the bottle and how many days of a supply they list it as being.

For instance, if he is taking 4 tablets a day and it's a 30 day supply, then there should be 120 tablets in the bottle.
