Why?
1. It is easy. You swallow a pill or drink some bitter tasting soda or tea. No shooting, cutting, jumping, etc.
2. It works. if you try to overdose, you could wake up a vegetable, if you jump from a building or even shoot yourself in the head you also could wake with a life-changing injury. There's even a kid who jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge and lived.
3. THIS ONE'S IMPORTANT. No mess for your loved ones, landlord, or bank.The coroner just takes you away.

I have debiltating stomach pain that doctors won't treat because of a drug addiction from 15 years ago. My dreams when I sleep are of trying to hide from mobs of terrorists, Angry townspeople ala Frankenstein, jocks, hillbillies, aliens, vampires, and gunslingers who want to capture me and torture me. No, seriously. try that and the pain on for size for 5 or 6 years.
I know it's not cancer, but euthanasia should be a choice.
As long as they don't turn me into Soylent Green.

Yeah I want one too...or maybe TWO! I don't want to be a vegetable. After reading everything here though, I think I'll look elsewhere.

i have just helped a very good old friend of mind to pass away as he just couldn't bear the pain of his illness anymore. I thought that i would feel like a murderer afterwards but i don't as it was his wish. Scott (my friend) wanted to purchase some cyanide powder and take some in a drink but after planning his death meticulously he found that he came across a couple of stumbling blocks. The first was that if his death was recorded as suicide then his family would not be entitled to any life insurance, and the second thing was if he took too much then he run the risk of contaminating whoever found his body, the police, the coroner, whoever. Scott only wanted to take own his life, nobody elses especially the risk of his family, and he could not leave this world without making sure his family could at least afford to carry on without him, thats where i came in to it. I managed to get hold of an alternative lethal substance and arranged it for him so that after he had taken it, it looked like he had taken it by accident therefore satisfying the insurance company to enable them to say his family his life insurance. Anybody that maybe in a similar situation them I urgently advise them he they are anticipating suicide to contemplate these factors before doing anything. If anybody would like any advice then please feel free to ask. I am going to bed now so if you do reply i wont see until tomorrow. I live in Manchester England.

Guys, from the past couple of days I have been searching the internet and reading about the cyanide poisoning and what I found made me real confused. From what I found on the net I have learned that death by cyanide poisoning is not painless but is extreme painful. After consuming cyanide, the body is subjected to severe convulsions and seizures. Those who don't know the meaning of these terms please search for these terms on youtube and see own your own how painful it could be. Secondly, some people claim unconsciousness and death to occur in seconds (10-15), some claim it to occur in 1-2 minutes and others say it depends upon the dosage and body immunity and might take 10-15 minutes. Imagine 1-2 minutes of excruciating pain and think what if it goes up to 5-10 minutes. Thirdly, I am confused about the amount of potassium cyanide required to kill a person (say average height and weight). Some say only 500mg is required while others say 1-1.5 gms is the best quantity. Anything above this will cause burning sensation. Can someone knowledgeable please shed some light on these areas? Please do not share what you have heard share only if you are 100 percent sure about what you are writing.

Also can someone post what is the best method to take cyanide? Is it with water or some liquid or directly put the powder in your mouth?

Yes, you are right. Cyanide consumption is extremely painful. The reaction is not at all quick, it will take at least 7 to 15 mins depending on the dosage. First comes the sensation of extreme dizziness, then aching and twitching of muscles with jerking. Gradually the pupils of the eye begin to contract and a burning sensation occurs. Then extreme choking, you are left gasping for air. Ultimately the heart stops functioning, you suffer a cardiac arrest.

It is easier to think that 7-15 mins of excruciating pain is nothing compared to living a life in agony but believe me each second will seem like hours after consumption of cyanide.

Thanks Prakash..the whole purpose of taking cyanide is to have a fast and peaceful death. I don't know if cyanide causes so much of pain, then why is everyone asking for cyanide. There are several other methods of taking one's life if pain is not the criteria.

if you know of any other means that is painless, nobody wants to die a painful death. People want to die to end suffering. They don't want to suffer too in dying.
