Potassium Cl 10 Meq Er Side Effects?

I have just been prescribed this medication, and have decided to try an alternative diet instead. The possible side effects have me terrified of taking it. What are some experiences anyone has had?

Yes, a Potassium supplement can cause some side effects, however, when I used it, the only trouble I had was when they tried to give it by I.V. It caused severe burning, that wouldn't stop and I refused to continue the I.V.

Once they gave me the tablets as supplements, all problems ceased.

The problem with an alternative diet is that if you are very low in potassium, it can be very hard to eat enough foods to bring it back up to normal levels.

Have you tried talking to your doctor about your concerns?

Is there a potassium TABLET that would be equivalent to the "Potassium CL ER 10 MEQ capsule" which I am now taking? I don't have a problem taking large pills or tablets, but I do have difficulty taking these capsules; they seem to stick part way down, no matter how much liquid I take with them. Thank you.

You can use salt substitute, which is potassium chloride.
1/4 teaspoon = approx 650 mg (read label to be sure). Just take 1/4 tsp a couple times a day. You can find in the spice section at the grocery store and it is dirt cheap. Potassium chloride is potassium chloride, ask a pharmacist about salt substitute if you doubt me.
