The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, and stomach pain, due to the potency, so they should only be taken with food.
What medication has your vet prescribed for your pup? It would be best to follow their instructions on what to give your dog.
Have they confirmed your pup has a bacterial eye infection?
