Post Atorvastatin Muscle Pain And Tiredness

Took 80 mg of atorvastatin as prescribed from my doctor after I suffered an eye stroke. I took it for 6 weeks and had to come off due to severe pain in my right leg off for 10 days, and still experiencing very severe leg pain and tiredness. Has anyone else experience this and after stopping the statin how long does it take to recover?

Does the ache get better during the day?

I'm having issues but have been on 80 for 20 years. This just started. But I walk and go to gym and by nighttime it's gone.

I'm on atorvastatin. I have A-Fib and was put on it by my cardiologist. I have RA, Fibromyalgia and Lupus. so I'm always in pain. Thanks, now I'm going to call them.

I can’t tolerate statins Dr has now put me on Repatha. Just started yesterday??

No the ache just gets worse each day. Finally starting to feel better after being off for 3 weeks. Dr has put me on Repatha which is a non statin.

The pain is usually greatest when getting up in the morning. It’s been 4 weeks since I’ve stopped and still in considerable amount of pain. Praying for the day I wake up and feel normal again

I get up in pain, go to bed in pain. For me it is constant, certain daysI stand up better, getting up and sitting that hurts.

Leg pain and fatigue are actually pretty common side effects with statins, especially at higher doses like 80 mg. Some people notice the pain easing up within a couple of weeks after stopping, but for others, it can take a bit longer for the muscles to recover. Make sure you tell your doctor what’s going on — they might want to check your CK levels or switch you to a different statin or lower dose. Don’t try to tough it out alone, that pain means something’s off.
