Possible Gastroenteritis With Trelegy (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been on Breo for quite some time but was given a trial of Trelegy. Used for 6 days but had thick mucus in throat during night and heavy deep cough, back on Breo for 4 days then completed Trelegy for 8 days. The following day had bowel pain and mucus (diarrhea) for 3-4 days then constant fecal diarrhea. Put on Cipro & Metronidazole then off Cipro and on Amoxicillin-clav. Extreme pain & diarrhea during night, went to ER. Given IV meds and sent home with Diphenoxylate/atropine. At that point diagnosed with diverticulitis but no explanation how it was caused (I have had it but ALWAYS could determine what set it off). Finished all meds with no relief so put on Cholestyramine. Been on it for 8 days now and finally getting relief from constant diarrhea. This entire experience has lasted over 3 weeks. I cannot be certain Trelegy caused this but I suspect it put it in motion.

Hi Lynn,
Sorry to hear about your experience with Trelegy Ellipta (Fluticasone Furoate Inhalation Powder). According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the following symptoms are listed as possible side effects of this medication:
-diarrhea
-lower abdominal or stomach pain
-general aches and pains or a general feeling of illness
Source: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0044758
While Trelegy may be a prime suspect, I should also note that every other medication you mentioned [Cipro, Metronidazole, Amoxicillin-Clav, Diphenoxylate/Atropine, Cholestyramine, & Breo Ellipta (fluticasone furoate and vilanterol)] also lists diarrhea, stomach pain and/or problems with digestion as possible side effects.
I hope you feel better soon!
Re: David (# 1)
Just to be clear, All the other medications I listed were prescribed to treat the infection/diarrhea
