The medication is supposed to be Valsartan 320/ HCTZ 12.5. the pill is almost twice the size of my normal pill which is also pink and has HIL on one side, NVR on the other.

Yes, that's still the same medication, it's just a generic that's manufactured by a different company.
The one you were taking, with the NVR HIL imprint was the name brand Diovan HCT.
The reason for the size different is usually just because they've chose to use different inactive ingredients and binders, when manufacturing them.
