Pills For Gaining Fat
UpdatedI'm 19 years old, 5'7 and 95 pounds, due to an overactive metabolism that was inherited from both parents. My thyroid is normal, as is every other blood test that I've had done.
No matter what I do, I can't gain weight to save my life, and my highest recorded weight has been 101 pounds. I'd gone to doctors, I'm on birth control, and antidepressants, yet nothing I've ever taken to help or done to try and increase caloric intake has done me any good.
The average weight for my height is 120 pounds, and my personal goal is to be 130-140 pounds.
I'd like to gain fat, not muscle, so I can actually have a healthy body weight, and not be a skeletal twig.
Is there any pill/weight gain supplement that isn't focused on gaining muscle? No matter where I look, every single supplement I've seen is for gaining muscle.
I'm also not very well off financially, so if anything that can be suggested is easy on the wallet, I'd greatly appreciate that too.
(In addition, I've been told countless times that my metabolism will slow down as I get older, and "I'll wish I could be this weight when I'm older" and it irks me a lot, because sure, it may slow down and I may gain weight later, but that doesn't help me now.)

Hi Peridot,
Sorry to hear about your challenges with weight gain. To my understanding, increasing one's caloric intake is one thing, but choosing the right foods to do it with is another. I don't know what your diet looks like on a typical day to day basis or how many meals you eat daily on average, but choosing quality over quantity is equally important. Additionally, fat, in general slows down one's metabolism versus carbohydrates and protein. It slows down the rate of digestion, G.I. motility and satiates the body longer. Are you getting enough healthy fats in your daily diet? By healthy fats, I mean foods such as avocado, flax seed, hemp seed, fish oil, coconut oil, raw nuts, etc., to name a few... If your diet is mostly carbohydrates and/or protein, your metabolism will continue to burn through it at a quicker rate, so ensuring that you maintain a balance of macro-nutrients is a vital component to weight management. Have you considered contacting a nutritionist or dietitian for more personalized advice?
