Pill Identification Queries Running Rampant

It's really amazing how many people here are randomly "finding" a pill... or half a pill... and want so desperately to know what it is. No wonder so many other people here with legitimate prescriptions for medications to treat legitimate medical issues are having such a hard time getting them filled in certain places. Most of you are at least getting answers. Those answers are coming from helpful people who are using (wait for it...) Google, to look up the answer to your questions. Time better spent answering legitimate questions.

@Midiman,

Not everyone who needs to have a pill identified should be touted as someone who uses medication illegally, if they're even using it at all for that matter. Often times, it's just a concerned mother who finds a random pill in their child's backpack, not knowing if it's something she should even bother stressing about. Wouldn't you want to know what your kid was taking if you're that parent? My point being is, that every question is legitimate in its own right. Whether their problems are worse than someone else's is not the issue. Everyone has problems and tend to see their own problems as something much worse than what everyone else is dealing with. It's just human nature.

And while most pill identifications can sometimes be rather simple to figure out for many individuals, I find that a lot of the posts on here are also relating to a variety of OTC and foreign medications, that otherwise aren't as easily identified through a standard Google search, if there listed online at all. In which case there happen to be other educational resources besides the internet that people on here may not have access to, such as desk reference books. I applaud people who enjoy spending their time helping others, no matter the "type" of question being asked. However you can't just tell people to stop helping others. If you want to change things up, you may want to go answer a few "legitimate questions" in your spare time. I hate to be blunt about it, but they always say if you want things done your way, you just gotta stop complaining about how it's being done and start doing it yourself.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?
