Pill Marking Yellow Oval Mp9

My new prescription of Pantoprazol Sod has a
different number imprinted on the yellow oval
tablet. Instead of P40 it is MP9. Is it generic of
Protonix?

Yes, this also contains 40mgs of Pantoprazole, in a time released formulation.

This is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat or prevent conditions, such as ulcers, heartburn, gastritis and GERD and its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence.

In many cases, people do end up with pills or capsules that look different from what they were previously taking, because a pharmacy will usually order from whomever is offering the cheapest price, when it's time to restock their supply.

However, I have also caught several errors in posts on here, where people were given the incorrect medication, due to confusing names or doctor's handwriting on a prescription. Some of the most common are someone receiving Tramadol, when they were supposed to receive Trazodone and vice/versa. If these names are handwritten, it can be difficult for those in the pharmacy to understand them.

Therefore, it is always smart to double check, if you're in doubt!
