Phentermine / Dot / School Bus Driver

Hi.... I was prescribed phentermine 37.5mg daily starting a week ago.. no side effects yet other than lots of energy ... however I noticed the bottle is marked with "MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS" and " this drug may impair the ability to operate a vehicle, vessel, or machinery. Use care until you become familiar with it's effects"... my dr is aware of my profession as a school bus driver and said that it wasn't something I should worry about... I can't find any info about it in the DOTs list of unapproved medications... I understand that phentermine is in the controlled substance list but does anyone know if it's still ok to take and drive a bus with a Drs prescription and monitoring?....I'd like to loose the extra weight but not if it'll cost me my job.

It says “May cause dizziness” which means it is a possible side effect for some but not all so to take precautions when you first start taking them until you are sure. If taking them doesn’t make you dizzy you are okay to drive a school bus as long as the pills are doctor prescribed. They can cause you to over-react or have little patience so if you deal with a lot of behavior problematic children on your school bus, be careful to bite your tongue. You might consider take half a pill in am & half at lunch so it doesn’t hit you so hard at once.
