TIKOSYN is not a drug, as far as I know, that can be obtained through a regular pharmacy, nor will they ship it directly to you excepting under the DIRECT supervision of a cardiologist/electrophysiologist. In Ontario, it is a FREE medication available to all that require it. However, it is so dangerous that they demand a three day hospital stay in order to start the drug, it can be dispensed only in a specially approved pharmacy (usually at the hospital), by a specially approved pharmacist, on the prescription of a specially approved Cardiologist.
Having said that - the pharmacy where you are currently getting your Tikosyn (Pfizer)/dofetilide, once your first Rx is picked up and identification presented, should be willing to courier directly to YOU (and you alone) your supply. Here in Ontario they dispense 50 days worth at a time and you are permitted to pick up the next 50 days worth just in advance of it being required. Know that there is a shortage of Tikosyn at the moment from what I hear so maintain your supply well. And remember that you must not take even a Tylenol without consulting your specially trained cardiac pharmacologist. Tikosyn is EXTREMELY toxic and a screwup with it can have major consequences up to and including death. Read the product monograph well. And check Tikosyn side-effects and drug interactions online, etc. DO NOT mess with it. Your dosage is determined while you are being monitored closely (i.e. 24/7) over three days in a hospital. I have been on it since Dec 2011 and it has been working well for me (NSR 100%) but I am beginning to see side-effects like morning nausea and 'balloon-head', both of which have been reported by patients on the med.
