Hi, I am 24. We were planning to ttc soon so I went for a Pap smear & my doctor said to do blood test in which I was diagnosed with low thyroid & then I started to take levothyroxine! This is my second week on medication! The day before I first started to take levothyroxine I had spotting which should have turned into a period but as I started taking the medication the spotting was stopped & I didn't have my periods! My lmp was December 11th, I did not have a period since then! My doctor is saying I might have pcos too which is making my periods late! So I wanted to know when will I start getting my regular periods? Doctor told me to not get pregnant for at least 4 months so we've planned to start ttc-ing from June onwards! But still I don't have any sign of my periods coming so I am a bit worried. Will it take long to conceive? My first pregnancy was not planned & so we didn't have any difficulty in conceiving but what about my second pregnancy? Please help me. I am just freaking out crazy.

Hello, Rinu! How are you?

Have you been checked for PCOS?

That needs to be done, as it can also cause fertility issues, so that coupled with the thyroid could make it very difficult for you to get pregnant, as reported by the NIH. Both issues will need to be treated and rectified to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

The typical side effects of Levothyroxine may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hair loss, mood swings and weight changes.

Without being checked for PCOS, no one can really help advise you on your other questions.
