Hello, Evelynn! How are you? I'm sorry about that, I know it's very annoying.
Yes, that can be a side effect of oral contraceptives and it may take about 3 months for things to settle back down and normalize, because your body is getting used to the added hormones.
Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms.
If it continues too long, or gets very heavy, then you should consult your prescriber, as this may not be the right one for you to take.
