At your age, irregular periods can be normal, it is usually part of perimenopause, where we stop ovulating each month, so our periods become irregular, according to the NIH. It is usually nothing to worry about, as long as your doctor doesn't find anything wrong, though I understand that it can be worrisome and annoying.

To put it simply, it just means that your body is starting the process of shutting down your ability to have children, eventually it will turn into full menopause. I started experiencing issues, when I turned 42 and it can happen anywhere from age 35 to 50.

What type of doctor did you consulted? A gynecologist would be best, if you have access to one.
