Percs And Ocs Not Helping For Methadone Withdrawals
(Newest replies first)

I was robbed and ALL my scripts were stolen. I went a whole month without my Percs 15s and OC 40s. I finally went to a methadone clinic. Been on for 3 weeks at 60 mgs now and got my script back yesterday for my Percs and OCS so I didn't dose today and OMG the withdrawals are starting and they are bad. Taking Percs and OCS are doing S***. WHY AM I STILL IN WITHDRAWAL? PLEASE HELP!!

Methadone is strong and even those few weeks is enough to get addicted. .why did you not have a police report and bring that to your doctor when they were stolen. ..most docs will replace at least one time...maybe you did? I keep mine in a safe and take out 2-3 days at a time and I tell no one I have them...because every time I did the person I told instantly has a back ache

So true. Doesn't matter what kind of opiate you were using, it never goes back to the way it made you feel the first few times, at least with methadone it allows you to live a near normal life and remains in your system longer, unfortunate but true and it does help with pain, arthritis, ect.. It's not a blocker it's just stronger than other meds. Try going down to 40 mlg.
First off all, I feel your pain although my story is different in many ways it does bare the similarity in that I had to cold turkey off methadone 50mgs after 12-14 years off opiate abuse. I had my last dose on the Sunday night and by Friday I HAD to call a Taxi to in order to get to hospital (I felt calling an ambulance would be causing a fuss). Anyway to make a long story short, they put me on Subutex which did nothing for nearly 2 weeks then for some reason my body adjusted and I began to feel better. Any Drugs can effect people differently so my advise (for what it’s worth) is stick at it as despite methadone’s lack off narcotic qualities, it is one off the longest lasting opiates and one that blocks all your relevant receptor sites. Stay strong.
Stay on the Methadone cause it will keep you off the perks and oxy. Your too used to wanting that feeling the oxy and perks are giving you. Time to get off the pills and Methadone will help your withdrawals. I was on all those pills and ya I miss the feeling the pills gave me but your body will only take so much abuse from the pills. Your time is now to start Methadone and enjoy your life without pills. If you are still in pain on Methadone, up your mgs then. Your time is now my friend. You don’t need the pills. Your shocked that your not getting your feeling your used too. That’s cause Methadone doesn’t give you that feeling. It’s gets you off the pills. I was on that for 10 years oxy perks etc... Methadone got me off all those pills I know I didn’t need. You got your wake up call. Use it. Take care. Stay clean.
Try Kratom, mix around a tea spoon with alittle coconut rynes, in a kureag reusable coffee cup thingy, run it through the machine and drink,, works great for withdrawals
Re: MethadoneMike (# 5)
I HAVE BEEN On METADONE WELL OVER 25 Yrs AND YES IT IS I HAD A TUMOR REMOVED THAT WAS 11/2 CENTER METERS CANCER LET ME TELL YOU THE PAIN WAS HORRIBLE IT WAS BAD AND THEY TRYED EVERTHING TO HELP ME BUT NOTHING WOULD NOT TOUCH MY PAIN AND MY REST WAS SO LOW AND I SCREAM ALL NITE TOLD THEM IF THAT HOSPITAL WINDOW WOULD OPEN MORE I WOULD JUMP OUT OF IT AND I WAS O THE 14TH FLOOR REALLY IT WAS THAT BAD I WILL NEVER HAVE NO MORE SURGERYS EVER.THE DRS AT THE HOSPITAL SAID BC I WAS ON METADONE IS WHY THE OTHER STRONG PAIN MEDS WOULD NOT WORK.
Re: been there (# 1)
That's absolutely NOT true. Methadone has no narcotic blocker, antagonist or any other such additives.
Because methadone might not have a high peak but it makes up in the duration,it keeps coming on when most opiates have petered out. The one drug that would cut through the methadone and allow you to feel it was fentynal, but then youre playing with fire. I could get a 100 lot bottle of 4mg.Dilaudid over 3 or 4 days an not feel a one on methadone. But get some fentynal buccal pills and i got loaded while on methadone.
My number one choice of opiate was Vicodin 5mg 3x a day is how bad it had gotten. But when I couldn't get my hands on any I switched to methadone pills. I took these for a couple months 40-50 mgs/day. Well when I finally got my script for norcos and I took double the dose that I usually took and it didn't do anything and I started to feel sick with withdrawals about 2 days after methadone even while taking large amounts of my norco. I'm realizing that methadone is no joke and I can't imagine how I'd be feeling without the norcos! I wonder if I'll ever feel "normal" again. I hate myself for what I've become I've tried hard numerous times to quit and beat this addiction. My sister is on methadone maintenance and has been for 10 years now and I don't see her getting off and I don't want to go that route. Anyway I know exactly what you're talking about cuz it happened to me. I guess people are different but for some of us, taking methadone blocks the effects of other drugs even days after last methadone dose!
@Beautiful disaster,
Sorry to hear about what happened with your meds getting stolen. I sure hope the culprit has been brought to justice since you last posted... This is a little off topic, but have you considered researching Kratom (bali strain) for its use in helping patients overcome opioid withdrawals? There's a lot of information/reviews here on MedsChat testifying to how Kratom has alleviated certain withdrawal symptoms including but not limited to restless leg syndrome, fatigue and other related complications that may arise as a result of abruptly stopping opioid treatment.
In my opinion, other supplements such as magnesium, melatonin, adaptogens (rhodiola rosea/ashwaghanda), might also be beneficial during a state of withdrawal. But If you haven't done so already I would certainly see what your doctor can do to help as well.
Wishing you a peaceful and painless day~
Because there is something in methadone that prevents other narcotics from making you feel high. That's why they used to only give it drug users because if they did go out and use they wouldn't feel high. You should never have gone on methadone in between. It does help my back pain, but I'm not looking to feel high I just want it for pain management. Don't expect to feel euphoria for a very long time because the half life of methadone is very, very long. Obviously you must be taking your pain meds for pain but it sounds like you like the effects. But if you have severe pain methadone is much stronger than percocet and oxy. Good luck
