Percocets And Hydrocodone (Top voted first)

Have been taking pain meds for 8 years due to terrible back. Have had 4 back surgeries with 3 of them since 2014, the last one was August 2016 which was spinal fusion L4/5 with screws, plate, rod and pins! Also suffer from fibromyalgia which is bad this time of year. I have been taking percocets 10mg x 6 daily since last surgery. Last week switched from pain management to primary physician due to cost and drive an hour away. Am now been switched to hydrocodone 10mg 4 x a day and tramadol 50mg 2 x a day. I miserable pain has increased? Having leg aches, body aches and seems pain gets worse an hour after taking hydrocodone. Is this crazy? I can't live like this. I have family I take care of, also back pain is worse with nerve pain in left leg. Neurosurgeon told me I would have some of this because I he said I have achronoiditis and no cure. Can someone please give me advice on how to desalinate with this pain and changes. Bless you all

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. That's quite a reduction in your primary opioid intake. It seems that they should opt for some extended release formulation, as oxycodone now hydrocodone are short acting narcotics. In my opinion you are not being served well by your medical providers. If you were properly medicated much of your pain and nerve involvement could be mitigated. I'd highly suggest seeking another medical opinion. God bless. I wish I had more I could offer you.

I have to agree with KenieK, that is definitely a big dose reduction, both Hydrocodone and Tramadol are milder than the Oxycodone that you were taking. Given the DEA directives, you would most likely get more help if you returned to pain management.

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Have you discussed your lack of pain relief with your doctor?
