Percocet Instead Of Norco

I have been taking norco for about ten years now and I now have a tolerance to it. For the norco to work for me I have to take more pills than what my doctor can prescribe. So I have run out of my Norco and my doctor prescribed me Percocet 7.5/325, but since I have never taken it before he said to only take 4 in 24 hours and see if it will work. Well, it is not working at all !!! I am going through withdrawals . I have emailed my doctor and tried to tell him this but I haven't heard back from him. I want to take more of the Percocet but I don't want to overdose. What can I do?

There is a chart available, the link is https://rxchat.com/wiki/Equianalgesic, you can see that Oxycodone in actually stronger than Hydrocodone.

The problem could be either due to your having developed a high tolerance to opiates, or if you've ever taken more than you've been prescribed, both situations might cause issues resulting in the new dosage/medication not being as effective for you.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

Has your doctor made any other suggestions? Only they can decide what is safe for you to try, but I wonder if you might do better with a dosage of Ocycodone, (one of the active ingredients in Percocet) without the Acetaminophen? It is available in several higher doses.
