Percocet Generic Report On Phasing Out Opioids By The Year 2021

I got a report to read from the FDA sent from the DEA on generic Percocet from a friend's family member that works for the FDA. The report said that in their discussions they came up with a plan to stop people from dying from overdoses & addiction. Said Generic Percocet is the most abused medicine on the market. They have in place a 20% tolerance on generic pain medication and they deemed this wasn't helping the abuse of Percocet. People have been complaining in the thousands about Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and others not putting the correct amount of opioid in generic Percocet plus it seems to be making people sick.

In the report not only are they decreasing the 20%, but also adding 50% to the 20% so you're getting 70% less of the active ingredient in Rhodes/Purdue Pharmaceuticals medication. So say you're taking Rhodes generic Percocet 10mg - you're getting around 4% of the active ingredient and in the 5mg you're getting 2%. Not only are they cutting the medication your doctor prescribed but adding fillers that make your stomach hurt making people stop taking opioids altogether. This plan has a goal by the year 2021 to phase out opioids altogether with the exception of hospitals. After reading this I said this must be Trump's doing? They said look at the date. It's from the year 2014 and is an Obama administration idea, not Trump. So no matter how many complaints reports you fill out, you're wasting your time. They aren't addressing these complaints because the two agencies are in on stopping opioids by 2021. Only in America.

Hi Tommy - Is there any way that you can dig up a link to the article you are referring to, or any other details from the FDA or DEA .gov sites? I tried searching myself but all I found was some information from June of this year, stating that the FDA is making Endo Pharmaceuticals pull Opana ER off the market [1]. Although I do agree with the overall theme of what you are saying since there is also information out there about how the DEA is aiming to reduce the production of opioids by 25% starting in 2017 [2].

If you could please add any other details from their official sites it would be very helpful and give all of us something more to chew on.

Hi Roy, this report was not meant for the public to see. As I said I got to see this from a friend's family member that works for the FDA. I asked if I could print a copy of this and was told he would lose his job plus think what repercussions would be if the FDA & DEA got caught tampering with pain medication. But it's true that your pain medication is being decreased to stop overdoses and addiction but breaking the law doing it. Maybe there's a law to start lowering opioids in pain medication. But with all the complaints and sickness happening by taking generic Percocet, it adds up that the FDA & DEA are working on this because nothing is being done. This is wrong but what can you do. Would have loved to have made a copy of that report but even with that nothing would happen in these dark days in America

I will stick to my opinion which is based on fact - not your fiction! The FDA and DEA are NOT colluding to make Percocet less effective. Trust me if they were, you would not have seen any paperwork!!

Can anyone who has had the sick issue with Rhodes, advise me on how to get another script from pm, so I can go get pills that don't make me sick? I'm stuck with 75 of these. I just got them. Can't go thru a month of this. Please, someone tell me what can be done. I know this is in the pmp database. How do they make the exception? - "People who have already done this".

Well then that simply shows you don't know what you are talking about either!! Let me explain Diane, Norco & Percocet are 2 different drugs & both are brand names. Norco has hydrocodone & Percocet has oxycodone....

I am in the know and have been dealing with kind of stuff for more than 2 decades & am a former pain management patient, 5 different neck and back surgeries with a couple cancer diagnosis' thrown in for good measure. I can assure you that those agencies don't have to fool you....bottom line is the days of prescribing opiods to make the patient comfortable is OVER. I suggest anyone that has been on long term pain killers to tell their doctor they want off to know what their true pain level is. They can help taper you back safely.....pain pills are a thing of the past, so get ready!

I do know I've been pain management for 9 years and my Dr don't know anything about new laws other than I know in TN all cvs r giving a 7 day supply no matter if u have a 30 day. Not going change anything other than go to another pharmacy.

But I'll never go to CVS even for batteries, they are just a drugstore among many to choose from. I've never used CVS except for getting film developed, & u know how long that's been since we used film to take pictures. Thanks

I read a story on Wikipedia about Purdue/Rhodes Pharmaceuticals tampering with opioid deterrents in their generic percocet and other medicine. In the Wikipedia search, put "Purdue Pharma L P 2007" and read about it. I've searched Wikipedia and had documents saying this but couldn't release it to the public. But I found a 2007 document about this problem because Rhodes is owned by Purdue Pharmaceuticals and their Percocet are making ppl sick because these ppl are adding and tampering with their Percocet generic medicine.

I went through same circumstance. Every month for months I’d never know what generic brand I would receive from 2014 & each one headaches, stomach issues, overwhelming fatigue as if I was being poisoned. 3mos ago I spoke to my pharmacist who then switched me permanently by noting on my account Record “MEDICALLY NECESSARY ENDOCET GENERIC PERCOCET ONLY” ENDOCET is the highest grade generic & is identical to Percocet formula as it’s made by ENDO MANUFACTURING who makes PERCOCET. I go to a non-chain family pharmacy which makes a difference in loyalty & communication. I suggest you do same as I did. I feel like “me” again AMEN!

Do you believe me now? You said I was lying about phasing out opioids by the year 2021. Seems like Trump has upped it to ASAP for a non-opioid pain medication. I did read the report & just because I can't put the content on MedsChat didn't mean I was lying. They are going to phase the Norco you take out too. Not sure why you tried to bully me into saying I was lying. I would like to hear your comments on phasing out opioids now. President Trump said it on tv so maybe you'll believe him.

Are you talking about generic Percocet ONLY?? WE know the DEA has cut production of all opioids by 60% in the last 3 years. FACT. And, they want to cut another 20% next year. This is already causing shortages in hospitals, 'not in stock' when we go to get refills, etc etc.

I just like to know some people like me are allergic to most Medications, I can take very limited types for pain ! This happens to be one of them ! So are you forcing us to street drugs - I will never try Subsonox & add Andrew Kolondy’s wealth is rather die! Besides no one even knows if I could even take the garbage ! I thought I’d never say this but how to combat pain is now going to be the streets because of forcing pain patients there ! Seems as if. Many just want us dead ! Alcohol is legal yet kills more. Illicit drugs kills but chronic patients are allowed to live just suffer n die ! My rare illness has no treatment other then pain. What next !

Kim, most of them have forgotten the oath they took to " cause no harm " it is sad that they only care about themselves now instead of their patients they are supposed to be helping. I am in Manassas and think the good lord I have a great spine surgeon and a great pm doctor. I am in my second day out of my third lower back surgery and am doing well. Can you use a different pharmacy? Doctors do not specify a generic brand on prescriptions. Unless a patient requests.

Do you have Medicaid? If you do, Medicaid is the problem.

Help please! I am so grateful for your post. I have Kaiser and was started on a new brand Rhodes after taking the same kind Aurobindo for years. Immediately I got sick, flu, congestion, headaches, rebound pain and irritability. Before reading this post I literally took my whole day supply at once thinking maybe I was crazy and had gotten a flu. But I’m not crazy. I’m seeing everywhere about this Rhodes brand. Not only is my pain fully back, but I feel like I’m taking a flu pill. I told my husband it felt like I was taking a fraction with horrible side effects and I was right. Kaiser doc and pharmacy say they are not switching back. I have a phone appt. tomorrow, it sounds like if you complain you are given nothing. I sure wish I could have been made aware. Knowing is so much better than questioning your sanity.
