Percocet Alternatives

Given that federal law permits generic pharmaceutical manufacturers to diminish principle ingredient(s) by as much as -20% (i.e. minus 20% as compared to the principle amount in the original or "brand" version), I am attempting to find a generic producer of Percocet that has proven to be more effective for others in situations like or similar to mine.

Due to a hard fall, I sustained an injury called spondylolethesis (i.e. shifting vertebrae) from L4, L5, & S1. Corrective surgery was required involving a vertical abdominal incision below the navel and two low-back incisions on either side of lumbar spine to allow installation of the appropriate orthopedic spine hardware (e.g. screws, rods, posts, etc.).

Since the post-op pain has only increased from surgery 2 wks. ago, and the Percocet issued to me by hospital pharmacy (Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical/325-5) has not been effective in mitigating both pain in abdominal and back areas, I am trying to determine if anyone has had experience with such generic brands as ALVOGEN, or ENDOCET at the 325–10 or 325–7.5 dosages. My research is not restricted to these brands. Hence, if anyone has been the beneficiary of a different generic Percocet I welcome your feedback.

The Hatch-Waxman Act actually permits a difference of both plus, and minus 20% of the active ingredient, so not all generics are lower than the name brand, some are equivalent, and some have more.

Given all the work you had done during the surgery, it could be that Percocet just isn't strong enough for you. There is a 10/325mg dosage available, the Oxycodone is also available by itself in various doses.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache.

Are you on any other medications?

Is the Percocet 7.5/325 Immediate Release or Extended Release? I’m trying to stick to the Immediate Release formula as I have a method of weaning off when it’s time that works for me.
