Percocet Withdrawals

Updated

If I was able to stop taking Percocet, can I take again without having to go through withdrawals again? I don't want to go through that again, but if I don't abuse will it start all over again?

No, if you take it for a long period of time again, even if you don't abuse it, your body will, once again, become dependent on it and a sudden cessation will result in some withdrawal effects.

This is completely and the only way to try to avoid such would be by doing a slow taper off of a medication, rather than suddenly stopping it.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Okay, so say I stay clean for a month, if I take a couple perk 10's just one night maybe once a month or twice a month will I have withdrawl symptoms like I did when I was takin like 6-10 Percs 10's a day? I'm currently 7 soon to be 8 (if I get threw this hell night) of bein clean. And I feel I can do it, I got past the worste part but, I done perc 10's for I'd say 2 years and the first year I would do it every other weekend and I was fantastic the next day didnt even crave, was jus when I was goin out for a weekend night and wanted to party, but then I got injured and got subscribed for a little while to perc 10's and diluidas, and I started using pretty often, tryna get clean again to the part where I don't need them and it'll be just a recreational thing again but will it ever be that again? Or becuase my body got addicted to them once am I f***ed and goin to always have withdrawl symptoms the next day after take some pks?

Hey everyone first i want to thank all of you for sharing your stories they have helped so much getting through this f***ing addiction. I started taking pain pills about 5 years ago !!! Started because of a surgery and never stopped and like so many of you I needed more and more and eventually moved to percs! I quit once after a 3 and half year habit !! I won't even tell you how many i was taking by the end its too embarassing !! I did it cold turkey and it was a hell i swore i would never go back too!! And then i had tonsil surgery and kicked that door wide open again!! I should have listened to my husband when he told me to tell the doctor I had had problems with percs but nope not me i can do it WRONG!!! So here I am after about a 6 month habit on day 2 and I just want to say to all those that have relapsed or are in a relapse please please know you can do it and its not as scary as it was the first time or at least not for me. And i know everyone is different. I just wanted to pass along some helpful hints that have really helped me and i mean really ! I m not one to believe in natural medicine either but i was wrong
1st go get anti diarrheal med one with hydrochloride
2nd get a detox drops find a kit at whole foods or natural store this helps flush it out quicker
3rd hylands restful legs these are natural and really help for when your legs twitch and it feels like electricty is going down them
4th mega B stress i didn't know this but learned that pain killers take away a lot of your vitiman B
5th Suntheanine this is for relaxation of your mind and body

I know this may not seem possible but i felt awful this morning did some research went and bought all these things and I have to say I am doing 80% better . Unlike the first time when I was vomiting running to the bathroom shaking sweating my feet felt like lead and I didn't want to speak to anyone and didn't for a month. I don't know if this would have helped me then but its helping me now and i wish someone would have told me actually scratch that i wish i had listened. Some may not agree with this last info but here it goes if your not opposed to smoking the green than smoke away it really helped me get out of my head even for an hour at night. Good luck to all of you my thought and prayers go out to everyone when you think you can't do it try really hard to think back to the person you were before we got on this crazy hell ride and you will start to miss him or her!! Love to all

KrazyB - I am not sure if anyone ever answered your question or not, about what withdrawal symptoms you may experience. Each person varies whenever it comes to withdrawal symptoms, because most of the time it depends on how badly you abuse it, and or how long you were taking it. Some of the basic withdrawal symptoms that most people have are:

1. Nausea
2. Vomiting
3. Diarrhea
4. Fever
5. Chills
6. Sweating
7. Hot flashes
8. Nervousness / Irritability
9. Social Withdrawal

Most opid overdose deaths result from people who stopped using and restarted thinking they could use a certain amount without harm due to tolerance this is NOT true and very dangerous because your body does not hold onto the tolerance level you previously built up with opid use. As you taper or even stop cold turkey and the opioid been out of your body and your body stops becoming dependent on the drug you lose your tolerance as well so in essence If you over time built up a tolerance of let's say 45 mg of percocet a day and haven't used in a few weeks or months even days and started back to what you stopped on you are at very high risk of a overdose....once stopped it's better to never start again however if you do NEVER assume what your tolerance level is it is NOT what you ended with ALWAYS take minimize amount and as PRESCRIBED MOST people who die from opid overdose are accidental overdose because they assume they knew there tolerance level what once was a safe amount can most definitely be your deadly amount because your body doesn't hold on to the level of tolerance it goes down with each day of no use

Yes, you will experience a withdrawal everytime, even if you take it for one-week, its highly addictive and dangerous for long term. Also acetominophen/tylenol is very dangerous and with alcohol is likely to blow out your liver, i am a nurse and see very healthy people die all the time from this, its very sad and highly preventable.

MARKA
I Have Been Taking Percoset 5/325 3x a day for 7 years. I have ran out early 4/28 {I had tapered down to 1- 2 at night) . I can not pick up my percoset until 5 days and plan to continue them as I'm scheduled for neck disk surgery 5/24. will this 5 day break be harmful to me during my surgery or after because I pretty sure they will increase my dose after surgery for a few weeks.

For eight weeks I have taken 5/325 mg of percocet three times a day. Can you advise me on the best way to step down from this? My doctor says I can just quit but I am still in pain. I had a hemorrhoidectomy 8 weeks ago. I have two weeks of the medicine left and would like to come off of it. Please help.

I’ve been taking 30mg Percocet three times a day for three weeks and I stopped cold turkey yesterday afternoon. I haven’t felt any withdrawal symptoms, just weakness and muscle soreness. Will I suffer withdrawal? Please let me know.
