Percocet Tolerance And Boredom
(Newest replies first)
Updated
I have been under the care of several prominent Pain Specialists for severe neuralgia. I am prescribed six 10/325 Percocet daily every 6-8 hours for pain. I take them two at a time, five hours apart. Noon, dinner and unwinding with the TV at night. Some days I take four, some days I take eight. Sometimes I take 3 at a time. I also take Lyrica, Nortriptyline and Zyprexa for their pain benefits plus several other medications. I never run out before the end of the month, there is never a desperate moment. Frankly, I am not sure if they even work any more as they should. If I am prescribed 180, 10-325 Percocet say each month for the past two years, that is well over four thousand pills. I am not sure if some of my daily discomfort is withdrawing from the medication or something similar. I wake up every morning feeling like I got hit by a truck. I take two pills, day after day after day. One doctor wants to switch me to longer lasting harder narcotics. I am scheduled for ketamine infusion therapy next month which has a good track record but if not FDA approved. Thoughts?

Ketamine is approved in some states depending on yur insurance coverage, it's very expensive though & doesn't work 4 every1
Hello, Chard! How are you?
Yes, I think switching to a stronger, longer lasting medication would most likely benefit you. They do usually give much better pain control. There is an time released Oxycodone, without the Acetaminophen, that may help you, since you initially had good results with it.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
