My father turned 74 on May 2, he had a kidney stone broke up with the laser procedure and a stint put in to help him pass the pieces of the broken up stone. His doctor gave him Percocet 7.5 with directions of "take 1 to 2 pills every 4 hours as needed for pain. He's taken 35 pills in the span of (Friday 3p.m. to now Wednesday night 11p.m.) and he still has 15 more left. Is this too many or too much for him to be taking?

That averages out to not quite 6 pills a day, so he is taking them as directed according to prescribing info you've provided.
How is he doing, now? Has there been any change?
The FDA does warn that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
