I have used it and yes, the horrible urine smell is common. I have used this medication for a series of infections, including throat and ear. It seemed to have worked, although I don't remember exactly how well. I don't ever remember taking it without having positive side-effects though. Hope this helps someone. Your urine will smell like a concentrated form of aspirin, that's really the only way I can describe it.

This medicine is prescribed in Mexico.. I've been taking it for the past 3 days and the only negative side effect I noticed so far is that my urine smells quite horrible. Is this normal?!

I have taken Pentrexyl and I will admit was a little nervous about taking anything that was not authorized by the U.S. I had to take something, I had just gotten 3 of my molars pulled out and could not risk infection. I don't have dental insurance so I got the pentrexyl and started taking it, it worked great. I didn't have any problems at all.
