Very likely. ETG has a half life of about 3 hours. 1 drink usually equals about 5,000 etgs. 5,000 x 5 = 25,000; your etg count. 3 hours after the last ingested alcohol your body is done converting the alcohol into etg. So about 6 hours after your last shot your etg. is already at 12,500.
9 hours after: 6,250.
12 hours after: 3,125.
24 hours after: 194.
The cut off rate (meaning the amount of etg needed to legally be considered a positive) is sometimes set as high as 500. The labs that conduct the etg testing have said that with a cutoff that high the tests are a waste of time and money because the previous method (plain Ethel Alcohol test) could detect trace amounts of alcohol for 24 hours anyway. With the 500 etg cutoff your usually in the clear after 36 hours except for the most rare of cases. About half of all states that allow ETG testing as court evidence use 250 or 500 etg cut off. The other half allow any amount of etg to be considered a positive for consumption of alcohol. The cutoff reasoning is due to “false” (not really false, but a positive reading without the subject actually consuming an alcoholic beverage) positive readings resulting from the use of hand sanitizer, mouth wash, etc…
While there is no proven way to increase the half life of etg, there is some logic behind the idea that drinking excess amounts of water and caffeinated beverages can speed up its elimination due to ETG being water soluble and caffeine increasing the users metabolic activity.
Note: I am not a trained expert in this area but I have read up on it extensively and cross referenced my readings with real-world user data. 72 hrs is often said to be detection time but less than 5% of those tested who have consumed alcohol in the past 72 hrs are found to be positive. All of that 5% were overweight, heavy drinkers, who did not hydrate.

From my experiences with etg and having a 100ng cut off you will have a great chance of passing after 80 hours at any cut off level used. The *80 hour test* just isn't true just a marketing scheme by the testing marketers. Just Keep well hydrated

Late reply but I saw you passed, good for you! Those calculations in #293 are one beer or shot. I would say add 9 hours for 100 test. Etg has a half life of about 3 hours so if you're at 500 9 hours later it's 62.5.

31 days of probation left Says:
I drank like five glasses of champagne tonight finishing by 9pm. I've had 128oz of water. Took some multi-vitamins and plan on drinks at least a gallon of water tomorrow, taking vitamins, and drinking excessive redbull. Possibly taking a etg at 11a on Monday. What else can I do?

I had on shot last night at 730 pm. I have to do a ua before 9 pm tonight. I have been drinking lots of water. A gallon already and will drink another gallon by today before i test. Thats 24 hours after the one shot i had. Will i be okay and pass?

Lyss, you should be fine if you only had a few sips.... But if you had more than 3 Standard drinks you will be cutting it close...
