My wife takes pantocid 40mg but refuses to take these when the tablet formulation includes domperidone 10mg. Does this medication alter the effect of pantocid or is domperidone essential for overall drug effectiveness? Thank you.

Pantocid contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat or prevent conditions such as ulcers, GERD, heartburn and gastritis.
It is effective by itself and doesn't need the Domperidone to work. It is just sometimes added to some of the medications to add its effects in, since it is also used to treat similar conditions.
However, by taking just one medication and not a combination product, she risks less side effects, such as nausea, stomach pain, dizziness and flatulence.
