Painful Relined.. Top Denture...

I went to a unknown dentist to me I had my upper denture relined.. it hurt as soon as The dentist put in my mouth.. he has a lab, so took it there.. put back in my mouth ..it felt little better.. while eating dinner .. gums started hurting her very bad.. I went back to same dentist 8 times .. and this is still on going.. I leave my top denture out at night & day.. still have lot of pain in gums .. this dentist did more procedures incorrect .. will call another dentist Monday.. but no top teeth until then.. Hello, Vicky! How are you doing? Has there been any change?

Given that I also wear dentures, I have to agree and say you should see a different dentist.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but why did they need to be relined? How long have you had them? The FDA lists the typical reasons for that as them becoming too loose, after wearing them for years, otherwise, it is not usually necessary. They should be fine for 7 to 10 years.

It is also odd that you still have pain in yours gums, if you aren't wearing them. That is definitely not normal.

Did this dentist check anything else, or did he just mess with your dentures? There is a chance you may have other issues going on, here.

I had temporary dentures for 7 months, before I got a permanent pair, I also have many friends and family that also have dentures, but none of us have experienced this type of thing. I mean we are all different, so I am not discounting your issues, I am just wondering about the dentist you were seeing.

What other procedures did he do that were incorrect? Are you on any medications?

First of all the Dentist had not examined my mouth , as I sat down in the dental chair .. this Dentist told me that I needed dental implants and I told him I did not come there for dental implants , he replied.. then I can't help you and he walked away .. his assistant was called into another area to speak to the dentist .. she came as I was getting up to leave and said the dehst wanted to talk to me.. ( I should have left .,then ) He came into the room I was in and told me he would do whatever dental work that Ivwanted.. he then smiled and saus: I LOVE MONEY.... Another red flag ! Again I should have left .. but did not leave because the dental tech.. told me she was going to do xrays.. because I also wanted one crown and a new lower partial .. The dentist did the crown and was very rough.. the drill hit a tooth on my upper denture and broke a peice of .. I couldn't say anything because the dental tech and the dentist were holding my mouth open with their fingers as he was drilling ..it hurt my mouth, still I could not say anything with their fingers in my mouth.. when he finished the crown .he made impression for my new partial.. which had 6 teeth on it.. when I went back for my next appt.. the partial was ready but he had put only 4 teeth on it and he did not discuss that with me .. I have not been able to we at the partial ..it needs the other 2 teeth in the back, when I have tried to eat with it my food is hard to chew and it makes my gums very sore.. so I only wore 4 times and had to wait for my gums to heal so I am now wearing my old partial.. my top denture was loose.. that is why I had it relined.. End of story, I paid $2,221.00 for one crown .. I am now using strip of sea bond on my upper plate during the day and take it out at night only , my gums are healing nicely .. Will have to find a dentist someday ..hopefully a good one..
