Hello my question is, is there a combination of two otc pain relievers that when taken together gives approximately the same relief from pain as that of a 500mg vicodan?
My mom has terrible osteoarthritis, with awful pain and swelling. She is 78 years of age and would be pretty active if for not the pain.

I'm sorry, but no there isn't. Vicodin contains Hydrocodone (an opiate narcotic), coupled with Acetaminophen, so there is nothing equivalent available over the counter. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
Is her doctor not treating her pain? Has she taken Vicodin for it in the past?
