Pain Relief For Stage Iv Lung Cancer Spread To Spine, Chest Wall And Adrenal Gland

My oncologist thinks I take too much pain meds, 130 mg MS Contin , dilaudid 4mg, and Percocet for break through pain every 4 hours. The MS Contin is 2 times daily. After I take the MS Contin I start getting breakthrough pain about 1 1/2 hours. He said there is no way I can take that and be awake. Had to sign contract no one else can prescribe me pain meds. And I have to be subjected to drug panels to make sure I'm taking them! Hell yes I Am taking them. I just want some reliefs so my QoL will be better and I can live before I die.

Hello, Mack64! How are you doing? I am so sorry that you're suffering and about the hassles your doctor is giving you.

That is very unusual, they are supposed to liberal prescribing to cancer patients, with intractable pain, and you should be dosed according to your pain relief and tolerance.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Have you considered getting a second opinion?

Metastatic cancer is known to be very, very painful and to require aggressive treatment.

I take 60 's a day and 10/325 Percocet, oxycodone, lyrica and clonazepam....I have 3 diagnoses none which are fatal. But check ya you should be comfortable, your oncologist has no pain management skills nor understanding

Have you tried immediate release fentanyl for btcp? Like actiq or subsys?
