Pain And Numbness In Both Hands
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Over the past 6 months I have developed acute pain and numbness/tingling, as well as loss of strength, in both hands. I've been to 3 doctors and a specialist and they can't work out what's happening. Have tried strong painkillers like Tramadol but no relief. I'm now taking medicinal cannabis 100 (.5 mil per day), and although it has helped slightly, the pain is still chronic. Has anyone else out there had similar problems and, if so, what treatment have you had?

I know this will sound strange but....
When I was in my 40's I developed pain (which became severe) and complete loss of strength in one wrist. I could not pick up a coffee cup! I'm not sure how I figured it out but it was being caused by soy lecithin. Soy lecithin is in many foods. Whenever I begin to have the symptoms (once in both wrists), I immediately find the source of soy lecithin. I do have to say I have developed a number of issues with food (gluten, dairy, onions, garlic, etc) and my gut. This symptom was the 1st. I hesitate in mentioning this to doctors. I don't want them to look at me strangely. Good luck!
My point is: you may want to do an elimination diet.
Did you have an MRI for your spine? I have the same problem with my lower back that causes my legs to do numb. Spinal cord is pinched in 3 places. This can happen anywhere along the spine. I will be having surgery to, hopefully, correct this. The MRI shows much more than X-rays. Good luck!
Re: VerFree (# 1)
Thanks for your message. The pain in only in my hands, mainly in the fingers. I have had x-rays that have ruled out pinched nerves and my doctor has done tests and ruled out Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. A specialist has also ruled out osteo arthritis so I've run out of possibilities. I have been taking 100 medicinal canabis (.5 ml per day) for 5 weeks now with little or no relief. The last doctor I saw told me I might have to just put up with it.
Have your doctors done any imaging studies to check your spine, and joints? In many cases nerve pain like this is due to some issue with nerve damage, a slipped disc putting pressure on certain nerves, or etc.
Have you ever been checked for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Information
Do these symptoms solely affect your hands? Or do you also feel issues in your wrists, elbows, or etc.?
