Pain After Prolia

I have had 3 Prolia injections so far. Only recently did I see a pattern regarding the ensuing pain. After each injection, I would have about four pain-free days. Then I would have five months of constant and debilitating pain in both hips, both knees, both thighs and both shins. At the end of the fifth month, the pain would stop suddenly, and I would have one month with no pain at all. This would be followed, of course, by another Prolia injection, and the pattern would repeat itself. The reason I kept going with the Prolia was that my rheumatologist informed me that my pain had no connection to the drug! It took me three repetitions to smarten up and decide to believe my body. I will be having no more injections!

Hi Jan,

Glad to hear you're taking back control over the pain! Not many people seem to have the wherewithal to know that they should even be listening to their bodies at all.

From what I could gather, the following symptoms are listed as side effects of Prolia:

-pain in your arms or legs
-muscle pain
-back pain
-muscle stiffness or spasms
-ongoing pain, that begins in the upper left or middle of the stomach but may spread to the back

So it sounds to me like the side effects of Prolia could actually end up being worse than the condition you're using it to treat. Do you think you'll end up trying something natural after this experience?
