Pain Treatment W/ Narcotics
UpdatedDoes anyone know of a doctor in WI that is willing to prescribe narcotics for chronic pain. I am a legitimate pain patient. I had twelve vertebrae fused and suffer from severe chronic pain that significantly impacts even the most simple daily activities. I have taken a large dose of opiates for a substantial amount of time (over 7 years) and metabolize the medication very quickly. My doctor is retiring, and I need to find a doctor with an open mind who is willing to look beyond the ignorant stigma surrounding narcotics and approach my treatment in a non-offensive way rather than immediately assuming that anyone who takes narcotics does so illegitimately. NEED A WI DR. HELP! WILL GO ANYWHERE IN WI.

In Wisconsin, you actually have an organization called the Alliance of State Pain Initiatives, they specialize in getting doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical personnel to understand the need for proper pain treatment and in trying to remove barriers and problems that prevent it.
They also keep a list of pain treatment centers that have been found to help people in your type of situation.
You can contact them at:
3240 University Avenue, Suite 2
Madison, WI 53705-3570
Toll Free: 800.210.0220
Phone: 608.233.7166
And they can help you find a doctor in your area that can help you!
