The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. The problem with Methadone is that it can also be habit forming, and most people require it for much longer than 2 months, and many people end up having to take a lifetime maintenance dose. I've been having a big problem lately, I'm going through a very stressful time lately and my doctor stopped giving me the only thing that worked, which was Tramadol off label and Valium for occasional use. What are all the side effects, mild and severe, of Tramadol? ## Deborah, Tramadol has been very effective for pain and has the least side effects of most of the other pain meds. I've had chronic pain, spinal surgery, plates and screws and more - the point is that it gives pretty good coverage for severe pain. You might be aware of skin problems like itching and possibly hives. Does not seem to cause the drowsiness and fog some of the other pain meds can. Thinking and reaction time seems good. Careful stopping abruptly - if so flu like symptoms and really sleepy. He recently took a urine test that came up positive for morphine, but he only takes oxycodone, xanax and adderall. Does this mean he's doing something that I don't know about? ## No not at all. All opiates break down into morphine once they are broken down in your body. capsule ## There is no medication that I can find that is called Oxyprophen. I am assuming you are referring to a formulation that contains Oxycodone and either Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen? I am prescribed 6 Opana 10 mg immediate release, and I have come a long way considering they ran me as a guinea pig and had me on it all - from Fentanyl patch 100 (yes that's right 100 mcg), and the breakthrough med was dilaudid 4 mg and the 8 mg, as well as having been on OxyContin (the op kind / not the old ones). That was in my experimental days. I was on the 60's of those which didn't help even with the breakthrough pain. I lost a lot of good friends from the old ones. They overdosed and died. The new version never touched my pain either. I was on 15, to 20, to 30 mg. Also Lortab and Percocet (the 10's). None helped my pain. I had been on 10 mg oxymorphone for 2 years due to 6 failed lower lumbar back surgeries and 2 neck surgeries, one which left me with a cage and disc replacements.
