Pain Management In Florida Near St. Petersburg?? (Top voted first)
UpdatedHello everyone!
I had an MRI done in December of 2010 on my lower back and was treated with oxycontin 30mg and muscle relaxants from a clinic in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I did that for one month and the pain in my back was gone but I was afraid to get addicted so I stopped and have since been in progressively worse pain.
Now for my question, I recently moved to the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) area in Florida and am looking to find a doctor who will honor my MRI (3 years old) and also not give me a hard time for prescribing the right pills that ease my pain.
I unfortunately lost all the documentation from the Pain Management clinic in Fort Lauderdale about my condition and the place has since been closed.
Can someone recommend a clinic for me within my area? I would highly appreciate it. I am not even looking for 30mg, I'm willing to take 15mg twice a day or even just 15mg once a day (split in half). At this point I'll try anything which takes the pain away.
Thanks for any comments!
TYJ

You're really not going to find a doctor that will just accept an MRI that old, without other documentation or anything and freely prescribe you pain medications. Prescribing practices are very strictly regulated and monitored, now.
Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, that would most likely be the easiest and quickest way to find the help you need.
Thank you for your response. I am seeing a primary care physician but all she gave me was hydrocodone for pain and percocet after those did not cut it but it seems to be too weak and I don't want to take 3-4 to get pain relief because of the tylenol in the pills.
I can get documentation from the pharmacy the scripts were filled at in 2010. I would also go and get a new MRI if needed, anything to ease the pain at this point!
Any information is highly appreciated for me in my area!
Florida 2014..is not the same as Florida 2000-2012. The doctors still might prescribe them..but to get them filled...it's just so hard. I live in the spring hill area...and I actually only know of one doctor...and he's in Orlando that will still help...but everything needs to be knew (mri, etc.) But unless you know someone who knows someone who's a pharmacist. ..yr gonna have a hell of a time..filling them. It's like you are not Dr shopping anymore, yr pharmacy shopping. You also can't be from out of state anymore that's something that doesn't work. Sense shutting down "all the pill mills" and the newly doctor writing her out scripts for herself but using her clients names..it's just a hot mess. And I truly feel bad for the ppl that really are in pain. Like me and lots others. Pain clinics are yr best option. But don't think yr gonna get 220 30mgs. 200 2mg Xanax and whatever eles....like it used to be. It's just not gonna happen anymore. And plz don't go looking on the street...I have been screwed over so many times by loser grimmey a**holes. Thank goodness for google. Lol. But honestly. Now that I'm on subutex...I feel a lot better. I dont believe in methadone as a detox treatment, that's just as hard if not harder to get off of, than H. Suboxone and subtext I think are the best ways to go. But I am not a judgemental person and would never call anyone a loser junkie. I know the struggle...and it's horrible....if you really are in pain and you live in Florida. Plz let me know where you live and how easy or not it is to get a script and then get it filled. I'm really curious. And also...just be safe and smart.
Genesis Medical clinic 2 locations in Tampa. You must have a recent Mri, and your first appointment is a consultation. So at that time he'll order you a new MRI, you will be give a drug panel. I suggest you if do not have any other documentation try to get a prescription history from the pharmacy. But at genesis take the old Mri, they will most likely help you if u have some proof of what you were taking..Good luck. I see this post is kinda old..ive recently found out about 2 other clinics.
I have a ton of friends that get oxygen 30mg and every one have sooo much trouble filling, sometimes it will take weeks! I live in citrus county-crystal river. But most also get methadone and that's much easier to fill. Recently uve had two friends that are using a pharmacy they ups their script to and get their stuff in mail.
Re: Boston original (# 3)
