Pain Management/pain Medicine Doctors
UpdatedMy PCP prescribes me 30 Percocet every other week and has so for about two years now. This dosage frequency and milligram is no longer enough to keep my pain under control so I very often run out before two weeks is up. Sometimes even in just a week. So, after explaining this to him, he has urged me on several different visits to start seeing a pain management/medicine doctor because he says that he can neither give me more quantity nor higher milligram as a PCP. He's given me a referral but this is as far as it's gone. I don't know if he can't/isn't allowed to recommend or help me find one or if he's tried to no avail, but I've called every single possibility through search engine, phone book, insurance card etc. and I cannot find one near me who takes my insurance that I get through the state/Medicaid. Even doctors listed as accepting Medicaid have said that they actually don't accept it. I have even asked about just paying out of pocket once a month and was told that this might cause some issues and inconveniences or even termination of my entire benefits (which consists of foodstamps and insurance for my five year old). Is this true? I live in New Jersey, closest to the shore in the Monmouth County area. As a side note, people tend to judge those who recieve any benefits at all and their reasons for doing so without even knowing them or their situation in the slightest. Why they can't afford it on their own, tax payers etc., etc. so I feel that I should say I am not trying to do anything I'm not allowed to do. I've also paid many taxes for many years as well as my family and dearest friends have/are, therefore I'd say I've paid for my own benefits(not you or anyone else), like security for if s*** hit the fan. Well, s*** just so happened to do that so I'm receiving help for as least as possible until I can do it myself again. I'm not lazy or working the system. I'm not trying to live off of it or get as much as I can. Frankly, I have no idea how those who do do it, do it. I run and own my own businesses within a parent company which I also run and own all by myself on top of freelance work for several different services. I'm saying this because I would appreciate if for once, my receiving benefits was not a factor in the way I'm treated with replies. The judgements and assumptions are always wrong. The offensive remarks, guilt tripping, defending myself and people telling me I'm not their responsibility is getting so old and tired. Not to mention how ignorant it is to think they pay for me and hypocritical it is to act as though they have never received any sort of help from anything or anyone for any reason. I'm not saying that anyone here would do this, I just haven't come across anyone any where who hasn't. Anyway, I really would love and appreciate it if anyone knew of/could inform me of a pain management/pain medicine doctor any where near my location who accepts this type of insurance or can positively let me know if paying for my possible visits and perscriptions every month would interfere with either of my benefits at all. Thank you in advance.
