Does anyone know of a doctor in and around the Baton Rouge Louisiana area that will prescribe pain meds that takes Medicaid? I'm seeing a doctor now in Maryland but I really need to move back to Louisiana very sad that your pain keeps you from moving. I have a sister that is terminally ill and sad to say dying...and meds are keeping me from going to take care of her in her final days. Please help
Could you suggest any of these Dr.s for me in Baton Rouge that prescribe pain medicine for pain management. I've tried everything else.
Im sorry, I must have not explained myself. I take suboxone for pain management. I elect to so Im not under the influence of pain meds. Every case is different, the difference is once you get past the fact that one doesn't need the pain pill rush, suboxone can help your way of life. Hey, this comes out of my pocket. I have to pay cash to stay clean.
Hey dude Suboxone is NOT for pain like I have-chronic pain! It is only used for drug addicts who can't get/afford pain meds( narcotics). But it serves no use-purpose for pain relief so people like me that have real legit chronic pain have to have our real pain meds and not something like Suboxone which serves only people who are coming off opiates (Dt's)!!!!
Medicaid in Louisiana will NOT pay for pain management. Have you ever tried Suboxone for pain management, I do, yes it cost, but your clean.
P450 If you've already sent everything required to the Dr. I sent you the info on and they called you, I'd go ahead and try to get there, ASAP! However, now we have the holidays and of course it affects scheduling, of appointments. I don't know how you're presently getting your meds, but if possible you need to try to at least get another months worth and then get into this Dr. I know it's not physically easy on the body. Giving up is NOT an option, for me. Think of those, who love you and what they will be left, to struggle with. Sending prayers and lots of positive energy.
Destin,
I thought I had a few leads over here, you know it's 280 miles one way to Slidell and with the low amount of medication left I'm not sure Id make it or if worse they make up excuses because I'm complex. I am ready to give up and take myself out.
I have DJD herniated disc and Artheitis in my cervical spine. I need a Dr. In Baton Rouge that will prescribe pain meds for me. Methadone has been most effective
Melissa, there is a lot of confusion because Medicaid and Medicare aren't the same as just Medicaid. Many of the drs that are listed as accepting Medicaid only accept Medicaid if you also have Medicare. Let us know what they say and if you get an appointment how it goes.
Thank you I will call today. I tried calling there a few years ago and at that time they didn't accept medicad. Keeping my fingers crossed!! My collar bone and back of neck near spine is so swollen and painful. I went to my new rhumatologist and she told me take Tylenol. I'm like are you serious? She just said my disease is flaring and sees the swelling and she thinks Tylenol will touch this pain . That's not even funny , down right sickening when a doctor will let you stay in pain because they're scared to write pain meds. Im to the point where I just want to say f it and not bother trying to get out of my bed. No one cares anymore. I'm so tired of hurting and it's to the point where it's unbearable. Thanks for your help.
I'll vouch for this. You need RECORDS and he does a UA every visit, but he takes Medicare, Medicaid, and cash/self-pay. He's brilliant, does procedures right in his office. Look up "Feldman Institute" in phone book.
But isn't he with the Feldman institute?
Destin,
I am having a rough few days but hope to get my ID tomorrow then will refax your physician. Am just hoping by the time I do I can make the trip today. The i***** who are appealing my winning under the comp Judge are due to put in their statement. I had mine in 8 days ago and have no time for anymore crap so to speak.
Hope you are well.
Destin, but it is up to the dr is he wants to see the patient more than once every 90 days. Although most drs do see their patients every 30 days that is the drs choice and it isn't required by law, only once every 90 days is if you're taking a Schedule II med for chronic pain.
BL it also says that a Dr. makes a decision whether he needs to see a patient more often or not, to give prescriptions. When you are taking the types of medications, narcotics, for chronically/terminally ill patients, that I am I would think common sense says, that a Dr needs to see his patient monthly.
Destin,
I will try to get this early in the week and then fax him a short note telling him I have LA ID as well.
I can continue to get my medications filled out of Philadelphia which will take the heat off his local pharmacies since its paid
100% under Workers Comp lifetime award and I need brand on patches that also might help.
I also finally got the local witch supervisor at SSA to do the expedited reinstatement which should work without a problem. The WC I won but the Attorney General appealed to hold up on medications again so I'm very low on medications and all stabilization that Dr. Famous made in California is long gone. Wow.
You are one of the kindest people to reach out to me. I will be in touch I'm 250 miles one way to Slidell, LA and when on proper medication I can if I plan in advance to travel do the trip, BUT right now it seems overwhelming but I've fought this hard this far so will continue.
Peace my friend, how are you feeling?

P450, Yes you receive your photo ID at the same time you pay for it and take your picture. No waiting for it to be mailed. You will walk out with it.
Richie,
I'd love to know of one since I am a P450 metabolizer who writes Duragesic since I must use that and liquid pills do not work for me.
My California doctor did that, it is legal. They change it once you are established to do 3 months at a time. They just write cannot fill until on each one in California they write running scripts so 3 class 2's per page. I had 3 pages when I was on my regular routine.

Desitin,
Was thinking of trying to drive over to Sulfur today to get state ID then I can fax that over letting him know I'm in both states not just Texas. We are having dense fog though and it's bad enough being on too little medication.
Do they still do them while you are there and hand them over or do they mail?
I know they do them for people who need to write checks in both states.

Richie, I go to New Orleans & I'm from Lafayette & with work it's hard to spend the whole day going to the dr. So if you could help me in anyway please let me know. {edited for privacy}
Let me tell everybody something here. A doctor ( really any doctor) can and will write you post dated scripts where you don't have to go see them for every 3-4 months!!!! This has been going on for years!! You just have to find the ones that do this in which I do knoe of several around here in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas!!
