Does anyone know of a doctor in and around the Baton Rouge Louisiana area that will prescribe pain meds that takes Medicaid? I'm seeing a doctor now in Maryland but I really need to move back to Louisiana very sad that your pain keeps you from moving. I have a sister that is terminally ill and sad to say dying...and meds are keeping me from going to take care of her in her final days. Please help

This Dr is strictly legit, so I'm just letting you know. You will need your Technicians reports for all you MRI's, any surgery records, but the MRIs are a MUST. Also a 1 yr pharmaceutical printout, for your current pain meds, also a MUST. Fax# 985-326-8107. Hope Medical Specialties Slidell, La. Phone #: 985-326-8101. I'd call their office first. I think it will be $300 your first visit. Maybe $325 including your u/a. He takes my Medicare benefits, but he does not accept Medicaid. I saw him for quite some time, before he started taking any benefits. He's a good Dr. and if he accepts you make sure to abide by the rules and you won't have any problems.

Sunny, where in Louisiana are you? You may just have to call the pain drs in your area. It is expensive and you have to go at least every month.

Amber, if you have Bayou Health, Medicaid won't pay for a pain management Dr. Although you may be able to find a regular Dr to manage your pain, but it will be very difficult if not impossible.

Hi Destin thank you for your help , just waiting to hear back turned in all paperwork from my last pain doctor , they need to review all MRI's and that I was discharged due to Moving to this State Of Louisiana, etc... but thank you again for your help! God Bless :)

sunny, Louisiana Medicaid won't pain for a Pain Management Dr. Other drs can write prescriptions for chronic pain, but due to political pressure from Washington DC on state Medicaid programs to discipline high prescribes of pain meds and certain other meds almost all Louisiana Medicaid drs will tell you to see a pain Dr and won't give you anything for chronic pain. The problem with this are that.very few pain drs will accept cash and the ones that do can cost $175-$250 each month. For someone on Medicaid that is a lot of money that they can't spare, if they have it at all.
Have you tried discussing this with your pcp?

sunny, I don't know of any pain drs that will take cash. I'm.sorry
The only thing I can suggest is to call and ask or look and see if they have a website. Drs will put the types of insurance they accept on their website and if they accept self pay patients and if they require referrals. But even if their website says they accept cash, it is best to call and.check because many don't update their website.
I'm sure you already know this but when they say they accept Medicaid, they are only referring to the Medicaid when you have Medicare. That Medicaid is different than straight Medicaid.

Sunny I know a Dr. who will accept cash. He accepts Medicare, but NOT Medicaid. However, he is in Slidell, La. I'm not sure, if you are able to go to Slidell? He is a good, legit Dr. If you are interested post a reply and I will give you the information for him.
