Please Help! I Tested Positive For Oxymorphone And I Have No Clue Why!

I have been taking percocet for almost 7yrs now. I was diagnosed with a very rare disease(systemic mastocytosis with urticaria pigmentosa) and I get excrutiating abdominal pain. Well I recently took a urine test(which I have taken many throughout the yrs, and all have been fine), but this last one came back positive for oxymorphone and negative for oxycodone. Why would this happen and how is it possible? I have never in my life taken anything else for pain other than motrin and percocet which is prescribed to me. Does anyone know what the case may be? Also, I have not been in the hospital in about 6months, so I know that I have not been given any different meds other than prescribed.

I have been on pain meds for years for a nasty accident I was in and every other month or so I have to take a UA, for my pain doc to cover his ass with the DEA. So here is the issue, oxycodone, will metabolize into oxymorphone in very small amounts. Same thing with vicodin and diaudid, hydrocodone to hydromorphone, if you took a large.dose of oxycodone then took a drug test the next day, you could have had just enough of the metabolite in your system to go over the test cut off line. Drug tests do not test for the drug, they test for the body's metabolites, or what the body converts the drug into/breaks it down, so your body can use it, thays the simple version atleast. Hope that helps, you probably were just above the cut off. the metabolite doesn't even register(test positive) in the test, if, say cutoff is 100ppm/ml, and you have 90ppm/ml, it won't show as positive, but if your at 110ppm/ml, you test hot. Get it? Those were made up amounts btw. Hope that helps ya.
