My doctor prescribed 20mg of oxycontin for my fibromyalgia. I am to take it twice a day, every 12 hours. I am only taking my morning dose b/c i don't feel pain at night...I'm sleeping and very seldom wake up. Is it okay to take it once daily instead of twice daily?

It is, because in the long run it's really up to you and what works best for you.

It's usually just prescribed to be taken twice daily because each one is designed to last 12 hours and most people start to feel pain again when it starts to wear off. In reality, prevention works better than trying to get rid of pain once it has started, so a regular dosing schedule is needed.

However, you should make sure to let them, because if they check to make sure you are taking and check your levels of it, they won't be where they will expect them, since you are taking less than the prescribed amount and that could cause your doctor to refuse to treat you any longer.
