Has anyone else known oxycontin to rot the teeth? I used to be on vicodin until my doctor told me I needed to switch to a morphine based meds. She put me on ms contin but I had problems with it so she put me on 80mg oxycontin. Eventually my body built up a tolerance so she kept raising it, i have am now on from 4-6 per day of the 80mg tabs. It scares me that this is what rotted my teeth because only 5 yrs ago i had only 2 cavities that needed filling and then only 1 yr after going on the oxycontin i had to have all my top front teeth pulled as they where rotting from the inside out the dentist said my mouth looked like a heroin addict's mouth looks. He said it was shocking to him that normally he only saw such damage from someone who abused drugs with so much dental damage, but i have never done any street drugs and have only take my meds as prescribed to me. Now i have lost 80% of my teeth and as a beautiful 41 yr old mother its devastating. I cant afford dentures and sure cant afford implants like i would like to have. I am a single mother and refuse to date because i have lost my teeth now, i had beautiful teeth before i started on the oxycontin and only 2 small cavities that needed filling. Does anyone else have this same problem and if so why hasn't the company making oxycontin warn patients of this possible problem?

If i had known this would cause me to lose most of my teeth i would have never agreed to go on it. Of course my family doctor who has been prescribing them tells me she hasn't heard of any other cases, yet when i researched the med online there where others like this why hasn't something been put in the warnings about this med, i sure would have preferred to have lived in pain the rest of my life rather than lose my teeth and be unable to even eat now. My health has gone downhill fast as i cant even chew foods necessary for good health. All I can eat now are yogurts, and liquid type of foods which isn't much. My kids are 7 and 9 yrs old and they watch me cry when we go out to eat and they order steak, and i can smell it but can't order one as i know i wont be able to chew it. This is so devastating for me. I want teeth so badly if i could wish for anything in life besides not to be poor anymore it would be to have a full set of real teeth or implants but i could never dream of having them, and i don't know anyone out there willing to just help me get any either. I have always helped others all my life, but cant even help myself, i have had to have 29 surgeries now since 1991 when a drunk driver hit my car and caused me major injuries with my lower back and knees, i have had a full lower back fusion and 8 arthroscopic knee surgeries until a year ago they finally had to do a full right knee replacement and now they are talking about doing my left knee soon.

So my life has been up and down with surgeries and i would go thru one more surgery just to have teeth implanted if i could. but i could never afford it, but i would like to know why these drug manufacturers are making a medication that could cause teeth to rot like this without warning us patients or even warning the doctors about it. This is just terrible of them i think, as now i am the one paying for this by having no teeth to eat with at such a young age now. I am a vibrant young 41 yr old at 5'3, 120lbs, slim woman, nice looking too as i was a model in my younger days, so i keep my looks up. But to have no teeth now... I never smile anymore, I am to ashamed to smile even though it wasn't my fault i lost my teeth. I think they should pay for me to have new teeth but no one wants to admit that the med causes it, but my diet wasn't the problem back when i started the medication and i wasn't drinking coca-cola either or doing street drugs so i know that wasn't the cause either. The only thing that changed within one year to cause this was starting the oxycontin medication. Well, if anyone out there can help me let me know thanks.

I am 56 years old and was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, in early 2005. I had two surgeries and lost 1/3 of my lower right arm to the tumor that had grown there. I had a skin graft and radiation. There is no chemo that works for my cancer - it is always fatal.
The drs. put me on Oxycontin in 2005 after my surgeries, etc. I had never taken pain meds in my life. I worked for 34 years and had a great job and a great life.
I spent every dime I saved in my 40lK (almost $500,000) on my cancer treatment. I have lost EVERYTHING I owned - don't even have a car, cell phone, cable TV, etc.
Now on top of all that, I am losing my beautiful teeth, also. I had to have 2 root canals in the last 5 months and I developed white spots on my two front teeth and two lower ones in the front. After two months, the white spots broke off and my teeth are crumbling. I used to date my endodontist (a great guy who did my root canals for nothing) and he told me it is DEFINITELY from the opioid meds. He said there is nothing I can do now - it's too late.
I, too, was very attractrive and had gorgeous teeth. Now I don't leave my house either because I am too ashamed. I don't have the $3000 I need to fix those teeth and others are starting to crumble. The perfect credit rating that I had for 40 years is gone like my teeth - CARE credit wouldn't even loan me the money and I worked for GE (who owns it) for 14 years!
Just wanted to tell you that I truly empathize with you. It is horrible to lose one's teeth. I truly, truly would rather be dead than have dentures.

i completely agree and now that they have changed it from the OC ones to the OP ones its caused my ankles to swell up like balloons all the time, and i never have had swollen ankles not even during being pregnant with my 3 sons , i never had swollen ankles, but ever since they changed it from the OC to the OP i have felt sick, so sick to my stomach i cant eat, i barely drink anything liquid anymore as it makes me nausea, and i have stomach cramps so bad i end up on the floor feeling like someone is cutting my side with a knife all the time, the waves of stomach pain on so often now that i have cut down on the amount that i take of them, as i am terrfied they are killing me, then i read something on google that these new OPs actually have plastic in them oh my gosh are they trying to purposely trying to poison us by putting plastic in them, plus they dont control my pain at all on these new OP's at all, and actually make me horribly ill, i have chronic fatigue now and feel like what they did by changing the formula is just killing us chronic pain patients all because some out there abuse them that now we have to suffer for that, i think that yes we should all start a class action suit against the makers of the original OC for them not informing the doctors, pharmasist or us the patients that it would cause dry mouth so badly that it would dry rot our teeth, as they could have informed doctors to make sure they put us on a saliva increaser med if we where put on these meds and that would have saved us from them dry rotting our teeth, course now they tell people that, but back when they first put me on them my doctor said that she even called the makers of them and that they informed her that there was no side effect of them causing any dental problems, course now its everywhere online that they do, but a little to late for all of us who have been taking them a long time, so i do think the makers of them for their lack of caring or concern and them trying to cover the fact that they would cause dental rot from the dry mouth, i think they should be responsible for those of us who where not informed back years ago should be elgible for full dental implants and reimbursement for our devastation of loosing our teeth, it not only has affected my health as i cant eat foods anymore and i have been on liquid diet for so long i have forgotten what food even taste like now, but its also affected my looks i cant wear dentures as my gums are to small and the dentures actually caused severe problems with my jaw bone now, so i had to stop wearing them and they never fit right anyways as my gums are so small , i had beautiful teeth before i was put on them, and with the recomendations of my doctor she said they where the safest pain med out and that they had very little side effects at all , when i told her many times about my dry mouth she just kept saying drink more water, i kept telling her it had to be related to the meds, she said she even called the makers of the meds and they denied clearly any connection at all between the OC's and my dental problems, had they just admitted it to her she could have put me on a saliva increaser med back then years ago and my teeth would have never dry rottted and i would still have beautiful teeth, but due to the company that made them denying it and trying to cover it up that there was any connection between dental problems i think yes we should all start a class action suit against them and we should also sue them for the new OP's which are making us all sick, as we cant get the OC brands anymore all you can get are the OP's now which are making everyone very ill that has to take them, the OP's are the worst thing they ever did , they try to say the formula is the same its not even close to the same, and now on google if you look it up they contain plastic in them to prevent the drug addicts from being able to crush them or shoot them up as they wont dissolve , well think about it if it doesnt dissolve for them then why in the world would they think they would dissove properly in our stomachs for us pain patients, they dont, ihave taken them and actually seen the new ones just come right back out still whole no wonder they dont control the pain. they dont dissolve why would they if they contain plastics. putting something that dangorous in them will cause them to just sit in our systems and poison us eventually. i think they where just asking for a class action suit you know.

I too am having the same problem. My teeth are either broken, or decaying from the inside out. All because of pain killers. I can't smile no more. I hate that 4-5 yrs ago I had the most prettiest teeth, not no more. My Dr knew tknew it would kill ur teeth. If I had known I would have found something different for the pain. We need to get a class action law suite against these drug companies and the gross affects on peoples teeth. Just saying. Thanks Tom.

ty for understanding and your right we are the patient and we are taught to trust our doctor and what they say, and when my doctor kept telling me that there was no link between the oxycontin causing tooth rot and she kept saying that the company that makes them told her that their medication doesnt do that, then what was i supposed to believe you know, i begged my doctor to please put me something else all because i did believe that they where causing the tooth decay but she said there was nothing else she could put me that would be as effective on the pain as the oxycontin was. i trusted her, now she is not even my doctor anymore, last month i went in to her offices to get my prescription and go get it filled and she said could not treat me anymore, because her offices that she worked for had told her she couldnt treat me anymore as they are afraid of being sued. now i am doctorless and no way to get a prescriptions for my pain so all month ive been withdrawing on my own which is exrtremely painful for me.

to burgerflinger, you know that there are side effects to pain medications and what you are not understanding is that physicians and pharmacists do not tell you that you can develop tooth decay because of the Billions of dollars they make and we know that physicians and pharmacists all get kick backs for using their product. WE ARE THE PATIENTS AND SHOULDN'T HAVE KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT WHAT WE TAKE IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PROFESSIONALS TO TELL US THAT THERE MAY BE A POSSIBILITY

Angela, I have a good friend that took pain killers after being burnt on the bottom of her feet and her hands and arms she also developed rotten teeth that had to be pulled and caused mouth infections. I did hear of something called snap on smile teeth that you just take out to sleep. Also the dental clinic in Florance South Carolina has very inexpensive dentures ,just google affordable dentures in Florance South Carolina. I hope this helps.

i DO know who you are, but i have never asked for anyone to give me money with the promise to repay anyone, yes i have had some send me money to help me and my kids, but they never ever asked me to repay them, that would be pointless to offer me money and then turn around ask me to pay it back that would be not only rude thing to do, if you help someone out you dont ask for it back when you know they have no way to pay it back , i am low income, on ssi, and what little someone has ever sent me was so small it didnt even help much , usualy it was only enough to get a gallon of milk or a few groceries, so i want to know why you seem to wish to make me out to be some begger when i am not, you obviously dont know me personally, or you would know i am the kindest person, honest, and always up front i tell it like it is and have always been that way, so obviously you have a huge grudge on your shoulder but you dont know me. so to sit here and say i have several listing asking for help, theres nothing wrong with having several listing online, my gosh thats the great thing about the internet it lets everyone put out there in this world things that they may need help with. but obviously you walk thru life blaming others for your own personal grudges, and sounds like you just dont woman, so i have reported your statement on this site hopefully they remove your rude and unnecessary remarks about me which are extrememly untrue.

well number one you sit there and say you want to buy them, well wouldnt do any good anyways, as all of them are now the new formula which i am not sure why you would want to buy them unless your taking them orally like the rest of us on here and i need mine for my pain you know.

tysvm for understanding my story, and yes my story is what happens when people get drunk and get behind a wheel they hurt innocent people like myself a single mother with 3 sons, and i will never be the same after that accident, as i was a student in college back , and a mother and i was very active and vibrant and healthy before the car accident, and once i was prescribed the oxycontin it devasted me by drying out my mouth and everything i told my family doctor who prescribed it that my mouth was dry, she just kept telling me to drink more water which didnt help, when my teeth started falling apart my family doctor even said she called the makers of oxycontin and she said they told her that there was no relationship between oxycontin and tooth decay at all, or even dry mouth, it wasnt until within the past 2 yrs that the manufacters have actually admitted there is a relationship between the oxycontin and the dry mouth and tooth decay, even my pharmacy told me there was no reason they could relate the oxycontin to my dry mouth and tooth decay back when i first got on it, and it started devasting my teeth, course now the medication makers and pharmacies, and doctors are all now admitting that the medication in fact does cause severe tooth decay, and my family doctor has even told me if the makers of the med had openly admitted that the medication would cause tooth decay due to it causing dry mouth back then when i first got it, my doctor said if they had admitted it back then my doctor could have taken actions to try to have prevented it from occuring and my loosing my teeth, but my doctor said the makers of it back totally denyed it was the cause of it, yet i had great teeth all my life and i took care of my teeth very well all my life, and only few months after being on oxycontin my teeth broke in half on the top ones because they had dried out so badly, even my dentist was stunned at what was happening to my teeth and how quickly my teeth where getting so bad, as my dentist said my gosh you take care of your teeth and always have had great strong teeth, this makes no sense, when i told him my family doctor had put me on oxycontin my dentist said well there is no documention relating tooth damage or decay to oxycontin yet, but now on every site, there is information relating tooth loss to oyxcontin, i think that the manufactur knew for years it would cause this, but they kept denying it not only to patients like myself but to doctors too. course now they admit it causes it, so i think that the manufacters knew to their negligance back then in informing us patients and the manufactures purposely denying the relationship between taking oxycontin and tooth loose back then i think they should have to re-imburse us who suffered tooth looses due to them trying to hide the fact that their med they manufactured in fact does cause dry mouth, tooth loose.

seeing now they have decided to include information in the medication when its prescribed at pharmacies, but even pharmatist back when i first got on it, told me that they had no documentions which stated anything about it causing dry mouth or tooth loose back when i first got it , so i think we should find an attorney and sue them for negligance and them purposely trying to hide the relationship between tooth loose and dry mouth and that medication. because if they had included that information back then my doctor told me she could have prescribed me a saliva increaser medication along with the oxycontin and it would have prevented me from loosing my teeth, but everytime my doctor called the manufacturer they told her that their medication oxycontin did not cause dry mouth and that it did not cause tooth loss, so i think their denying the real things that do happen to teeth that they should have to pay for me to get full implants as this loss of my teeth has been totally devasting when it could have been prevented had the manufacter been totally honest back when i first got on them.

What a bunch of crap. I have M.S. and am losing my teeth from the meds and steroids I am on. Quite possibly in the small print it said I would lose my teeth, but what options do we have? You either take the drugs or get worse, not all of us use drugs for "fun". Some of you people are real asses.

Hi, Sorry to hear you are having problems with teeth from the oxycontin, I to had problems finally all teeth extracted and finally replaced with dentures once we could afford them. People do not realize the severity of oxycontin/oxycodone and problems related and who is responsible, all I will say is money speaks and a lot of cover up involved and the new remoxy is worse but government does nothing

Hi all im a 44 yr old whom went through all the pain meds till i hit the top yes the oxy 80mg i have major hip and low back deterioration and 3 buldging disc aswell as stinosis in 3 spots along with scoliosis i had great teeth till this last year i've been having major tooth pain , to the point i dont know which hurts worst haha ! the pain in my hips is so bad i wake up in tears an its all i can do to hit that pill bottle an wait till pain goes away to the point i can function last week i had 2 root canals an the endondontist said i have the beginning of another it started to go off last night the pain is so intense this is totally unfair inhumane , oxy oc 80 mgs x 10 aday and was on roxy ir 30mg x 16 aday and fentynol patches 100mcg x2 every 3rd day till they changed the way the meds are made due to the abusers ruining this pain med for us . New formulation doesn't work and gives me terrible headaches aswell as no pain relief like the oc did , so i switched to a new pain management doc and hes the 1 whom put me up to those levels then after the oxy change i got told about thhis new drug called opana 40mg its oxy and hydromorphone aka dilatided those 2 meds both have workd well for me , except the fact im losing all my teeth i cant take the pain in my head ear throat and mouth , so not only am i in major chronic pain im now in major tooth ache pain as a result of the meds that the doctors give you when your in serious pain . now i went on disability at age 39 now ill be hitting 45 im watching my life roll past my eyes an i live in a world of pain i think my knees are starting to go now but im affraid to even go there , something really needs to be done as to the issue of these meds that wreck your mouth , i cant walk with out these meds an when im up im on cruches or my walker , im a licensed plumbing contractor and i specialized in commercial ada aka : americans with disabilities act go figure id be a disabled person very soon after . i was born with a deases deterioration and my hips are not normal like a regular build they call it pistol grip anyhow i had to wait till i got on ssi befor i could get anything going besides pain meds due to no ins,, took 2 years to get thats fast , so here it is 5 years later now im awaiting my right hip replacement which has been pushed off 2 times due to adema in my legs swelling which then leads to blisters that lead to sores as they pop very nice im also dealing with a new wife i met playin an online game that helped me through the deppression big time an we got together now shes like not so into me cuz im like a drug addict an that discusts her but she knows i need them to walk and im slow but she has turned around alot more , but now this thing with the teeth my dentist say its from the dry mouth caused by the meds an its imperitive you keep mouth wet to help avoid this rotting from happening but im waiting for call from endodontist for the 3rd root canal which they wont take payments on and i have exhausted my little bit of financing i had an dental ins for the year plus what i owe on my co pay is rediculas an i live off 1104. month in calif , yes there needs to be a class action im on 14 40mg opana a day an he lowered the roxys to 30 mg ir to 8 a day and the patches to 4 days with 200 mcgm then 100 for the last part of the week something like that all i know is im tierd of doctors and dentist and the pain is a whole other story , of tramatizing me to the point im affraid to go to sleep as i know when i wake up its gona be seriously painful. but im deffinetly sorry for all your stories there all heart brecking and if an when somebody legal comes to the rescue im all for the lawsuit cause this is cost a lot more then just teeth pain and suffering and self worth deppression embaressed cause we have bad teeth due to drugs that were suppose to aide us not hurt us goodluck thx for the ear god bless ! : )

I've recenty been taking oxy's and notice this same problem. One year and my teeth have almost completely dissapated. Your not alone. They all feel like their coming out, and somee have even fallen out. The most likely reason is that our breathing has stopped. Although there's not much research on it, breathing strengthens teeth (oxy's cause respiraory depression). To save your remaining teeth, keep practicing breathing excercises.

I am glad to know I amm not alone . I had a full beautiful smile before I started taking oxycotin. now I cannot smile wide the way I use to . and it took charater and self esteem all hte way out of bloom. I hate the day that I had to start taking oxycotin.not did it mess my image up . It messed my life up as well. I HAVE NOT BEEN THE SAME .I did those words In large letters to let all of you that have lost your teeth . plus you have to live with the embaresment ,and have no money to at least get your smile back .If anything . we should not have to pay one red cent out of pocket .

I understand Pain and the toll it takes on me personally,Having said that I must remind everyone that EVERYTHING in life Is a CHOICE. You chose to take a medicine rather than deal with the pain,You said that if you had known what it did you would'nt have taken it.When faced with 2 choices,you weigh the consequences and MAKE YOUR CHOICE.You chose not to hurt,and now you have to live with your choice.You can hardly blame the drug or the maker for YOUR CHOICE.And I know your going to say you had no choice,But you always have a choice,unless they strapped you down and force fed you the pills,you made the choice.And was tooth decay listed as a side effect for OXY's?maybe not,But you know that OXY is a NARCOTIC and ANY narcotic has the chance of rotting your teeth.It is your responsability to PROPERLY research EVERY aspect of ANY drug your about to use. I DISPISE people blameing the drug and it's maker for helping people lead a better life,Wich I would'nt be able to do without OXYs.That being said I feel for you,But please dont go tyrading around trying to mess it up for the rest of us who have been helped by OXYs.

angelan i don.t know where you live but you mentioned 6 hrs. to michigan. ky ha a place in florance that does dentures for 699,00 you can do ita friend of mine did it and it turned out good. they dopull all teeth in one day. the teeth problem my dentist told me one the capullaries in your gums constrict so when you normally would have bleeding gums they don,t bleed. two narcotics make you crave sweets, and 3 it doesn.t sound like you get to go to a dentist at all. i don.t have dental ins. either i called all the hospitals where i live because i broke a tooth, they sent me about an hour and a half away to a sliding scale all places have that even with that it was hard to afford but dig and you can get someting.

Hi Angela . . .I realize that this is an old post, but hated to hear all of the rude people scolding you for something that is completely out of our control......Pain.
Back in 1996 I was in a horrific roll-over car accident. I was driving a beautiful re-furbished 71 vw bug to work that morning, approached a 4-way intersection and proceeded to go through, as the green light was on for me, as well as 4 cars ahead of me had already entered the intersection. However, as I was just about half way through and in the center lane, a large white work truck ran the red light, which I saw coming at me through my passenger side window. Well sure enough he plowed into me, rolling me over two lanes in my direction, over the center divider (small island) and landing on all four tires in the far left lane of oncoming traffic resting in a small grove of trees and plants at a gas station. Upon my coming down right side up, is that my seat belt wasn't tight (older cars don't have the retractable belts) and I ended up coming down hard on the pull brake . . . that I must have pulled up during my acrobatic car show, right on my tail bone . . . which didn't really hurt so much when I got out.
I was just glad to be alive. . . .
OH yea.... it turned out to be a hit and run . . . NICE. Other witnesses followed him while he hid...turns out.he spoke no English. Had NO drivers license, and . . . of course . . . NO INSURANCE!
After several months, my Dr. had me on all kinds of pain meds and I continued to work.
It wasn't until late September that I decided to get off the pain meds...because I wasn't in pain.......WRONGO! We had been masking the intense pain all those months that I had NO idea I was in any kind of pain.
I had compressed my lumbar discs, and had my first surgery in Nov. 1996. 2 months later, I am still in pain...but worse...so Jan 1997 I have my 2nd discectomy. Only to end up back having surgery once again, this time to fuse my L5-S1. . .that took place 1 year after my 2nd in February of 1998.
It wasn't until 2000, that I finally had to be put on some strong pain medication....oxycontin 80mg.
Fast Forward to 2008 . . the screws and hardware in my fusion back in 98 had rested next to my nerve root . . and was almost shearing my nerve like a saw.
Couldn't live any longer . . .AND definitely didn't want more surgery....next surgery I vowed would by my Autopsy.
Not so...September 2008 I was having my 4th back surgery, and left the hospital with a 4 level fusion and in more pain than ever.
I have been taking oxycontin for about 11 years and really benefit from it's long lasting pain relief...even after 11 years. Before I took the oxy 80mg., I was laying on my bed for 22 hours a day. I was declared to be permanently disabled, and took a nose dive into depression, having to leave my job at Genentech, Inc. - a biotech company here in California, where I had been happily employed for 11 years when I had to climb out of denial and face the facts about my health.
I did however, get a small part time job at a craft store for 2 or 3 hours a day and felt good about my self.
Within the last few years, my crowns began crack at the gum line..breaking my lower and upper molars off. (I was born with Little to no enamel on my teeth and have had a lot of teeth problems all my life . . .but nothing like what I am experiencing now)...Then more upper teeth . . .some I had pulled,but lets face it...I cannot be paying 3-400 dollars per tooth to have pulled . . . .but they were just breaking at the gum line. Right now, I have my two upper front teeth and two next to them are gone. I just can't afford the cost (even with good dental insurance) of the procedures, then to buy new teeth! I opted to leave the ones I do have so I have at least ''something'' to chew my food. Takes forever just chewing on the two front uppers and lowers. I look horrible and try not to go out much. I was gluing my crowns back on for awhile... then I stopped that.
I Understand EXACTLY what you were going through, or still are. I feel your pain, and I know that I didn't ask for my life to turn out like this. Nor did I want to get hooked on such a powerful drug like oxy. My dentist told me that he doesn't think this tooth loss is from the medications, but more like it's in my genes.
I don't know your situation now, but I just spent a most miserable month with my first prescription of the New formulated Oxycontin . .to keep it out of drug abusers hands. It doesn't work as well now for my pain, and has pretty much probably turned the street value of these once great meds, into 0.
I am now searching for something something comparable (which there is not) because, these new oxy's are just NOT breaking up, and are causing me nausea, which is how I know that hours after taking the medicine, I can see that the pill is just breaking up like the old medication. Being on pain management is like a full time job...especially when your insurance co. decides that I can't get 180 pills a month (6 a day) anymore...instead they will only allow me 90 pills a month....three a day. So I am still working on something for me that will once again work.
I hope you or someone will read this...I realize that I'm replying to old posts . . .but hey I got nothing else to do today!

I was also told Medicaid would not pay for a denture by a couple dentists.But they will.You have to find a dentist that knows how to file for it.Because mine will pay for my replacement upper, already approved for.I paid for the immediate so I did not have to wait to have teeth again.Medicaid just makes you wait 2 months after you have your teeth pulled before they will pay for it.But since you have no upper teeth already,that should not be a problem. My immediate denture was only $400.The permanent will be around $500 but paid for by Medicaid, but will go against the $600 of coverage they provide for a year.Where are you going that they are charging such a huge amount for a denture? I was told that the lab I had mine made out of was a high cost one too.Mine look great too, very real, they are just hard to get use too.I wil have to get a partial for the bottom,and I am not sure if Medicaid will cover that though, but it is around the same cost as my immediate was.You need to look around more for a different dentist,and call Medicaid yourself regarding what is covered for you.Good luck.

I also suffer from teeth rot and loss from long term oxycontin use for chronic pain control.Mine actually starting after taking the IR version of it Roxicodone.Then a few yrs later I was on Oxycontin,and this had the last 6 of my uppers pulled and all but 8 of my bottom teeth.I was told my mouth is extremely dry from the meds,and therefore saliva does not wash away the stuff on my teeth as a normal person.I am only 36, so I feel your pain.My immediate upper denture was only 400 dollars,maybe you can find a dentist with a payment plan? I live in IN and I know some low income dental offices,and of course Medicaid will pay for an upper if you have no teeth.I am not much help to your question, but wanted to let you know I feel your pain.I had my teeth out before I turned 36 this year.We are too young to lose our teeth and it is not fair.A denture is no picnic either unfortunately,and like you I cannot afford implants.
