Oxycontin Causes Dental Problems
UpdatedAfter taking Oxycontin for 2 years, to lessen pain from chemo, radiation therapy & liver therapy during and after the strong medications. I was very happy to get the pain relief from the Oxycontin.
Aftereffects problem with tooth decay and loss.
I now receive Social Security Disability so I do not have a lot of money for dental care.
Do you offer any programs to help people with dental problems from using Oxycontin?
Thank you.

Unfortunately no, there aren't any programs for such things.
However, the Oxycodone can cause such issues for several reasons. The first is usually due to the fact that it causes dry mouth, which means that your saliva isn't rinsing away the bacteria on your teeth, in the manner that it usually does.
The second is due to the fact that it can also cause mineral loss in your body, which can cause your teeth to be weaker than usual.

The best suggestion I can make is to see if there is a dental school in your area. Though it can take much longer than having the work done at a regular dental office, it is also usually much cheaper to have it done there, since they are students in training. However, their work is also overseen by fully qualified dentists, so it is perfectly safe.
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
