Oxycontin Oc 80. 60, 40

I hope everyone will reply to my post. I 'am like thousand of good people who live in pain every minute of the day. And now since Purdue the makers of Oxycontin has reformulated the OC to OP we all suffer. I like all has called Purdue with my concerns not only a complaint on how this new Oxycontin does not work and its side effects. What I will do if I have enough people to respond is to set up a FACEBOOK page were people can add his or her story about how the OP do not work, what side affects he or she is having. Also where everyone can boycott any medication that Purdue sells. When at the Pharmacy ask the Pharmacist to give you another brand of medication not one made by Purdue. Trust me there are many other drug companies who make the same day to day medication we take. From blood pressure meds to birth control etc. If they see that people will not go away quietly that we will be heard. I want to tell and show Purdue that they are in business because of people like us. If they see that people will not use or purchase any of the meds they make then maybe they will take everyone's complaint serious. We live in the United States a free country no one has the right to tell another person how he or she should live. I understand why Oxycontin was changed but doing it this way is not fair or correct. Education is the key and hopefully the medical community will get behind their patient and say NO MORE SUFFERING. I know there is many people like my self who have had several operations and depend on this medication to live day to day in comfort the pain never goes away. Good Luck to ALL.

I was in bad truck accident in 1993 and broke my neck, back and both ankles. For years I suffered in agony until I was prescribed 80 millgrams of Oxycontin. Before this medicine I could not do anything. When I did I was in agony. Then I got Oxycontin 80 milligrams and my life was great. I could hold my sons, go the grocery store with my wife, be intimate with my wife and go places again. It was like having a normal life again. Then they switched the medication from OC to OP and my life sucked again . I CAN'T DO HALF OF WHAT I USED TO DO. The doctors tell me that it is all in my head. I say no way. The OPs still take the pain away but nothing compared to OCs. The OCs gave me my life back. I was pain free and able to live again. I feel it was an injustice to take these off the market. It wasn't the patients abusing the drugs, it was the drug dealers and junkies abusing them. These people move on to the latest and greatest and now the people who really need this medication are the ones that are suffering.
yes i agree with you ,i'm also in alot of back pain .I'd already had 7 back surgeries and now I'm 100% disable, when they change the oc's to the op's i lose my apetiti and i get short of breathness. i always end up in the hospital and when i get out my pain comes hard that it makes me cry, because i can't tolorated...
everyone knows that with IV abuse, the OP tablet excipients can result in death, local tissue necrosis,
infection, pulmonary granulomas, and increased risk of endocarditis and valvular heart
injury. Parenteral drug abuse is commonly associated with transmission of infectious
diseases, such as hepatitis and HIV.
This is the way it works people, when i swallow whole (this means unchewed, uncrushed, or undesolved pill) my Dr prescribed 60mg op it starts relieving pain in 1 hour then in 3 hours i have maximum plasma concentration (that means im feelin really warm and fuzzy) and then i feel good for about 7/8 hours and then its time to take a Roxy 30 (Oxycodone 30mg. Thats what its called for all you people who claim to be a LEGITIMATE patient but still call it a Perc 30)
I am sorry but all you people who are complaining about this crap are the people who got everything changed to begin with because NONE OF YOU COMPLAINERS TAKE YOUR MEDICATION AS PRESCRIBED OR EVEN HOW YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO. If you did you wouldnt be complaining. I know what i am talking about. I take 210mg of Oxycodone per day in lamens terms i get 2 op 60's per day and 3 roxy 30's per day - thats 60 op 60's and 90 Roxy 30's per month. and i have been on pills since 2004. All you people are just b****ing cause yall cant snort or shoot them anymore. And you know what I am glad. "You" complaining pill junkies are the reason all these problems are happening or i should say that all these solutions are happening. I am so happy with the new formulation they actually work the way they are supposed to. call me crazy but i actually swallow my medication "whole" thats right "whole" for both my op 60's and my blues. and you know what it works better anyway. when you snort meds you end up swallowing half of it anyway. what do you think your swallowing when you swallow that nasty drain from your nose after snorting a pill? if your answer was anything other than pill and snot than my comment was confirmed. Stop complaining and Messing everything up for the people who really need it..Go get a job and stop selling your pills.
ive heard of power in numbers and ive been on oxycontin for 5years 4 a day 80mg then saw the switch to op.they do not work!!!!!!!!period,,we have to find a way to bring back for the legitimate pain patients, people now are going to be getting stuff they shouldnt and overdosing,my friend recently just passed because of xanax and the pain from not being able to deal with his pain, its gross, market the xanax and ir roxy with no time release on it but bring back the old formula, theres polymers in this new op formula its a joke and expensive garbage,at least people knew what was going in there bodies and the people that do abuse it all this has done is enable people to go out and experiment with that other junk that you have no clue what it is but people will do it to get rid of pain.ive tried opanas not same.and have to now take 8 30mg roxy a day, lets get the ball rolling there has to be a way.one company cannot just own the rights to one thing when there are ten different companies making all other narcotics,,,hopefully the dea will hear the real sufferers pleas and help us,throw the op away and just bring us our oc back,,please and thank you for reading
Hey all I take 3-60 mg of the new oxy's, 6 10/325 percocets No good ,I had the generics and they worked great now they reformulate with this new version and it's a waste it makes me sick & turn red / blotches they have ruined the medication. I have contacted purdue pharm inc. they noted it and told me to talk to my doctor. I'm going to change to morphine/delaudid possible Iv i dont want to have a pump but i can't live in so much pain. Please contact purdue and tell the your complaints maybe we can get the new oxy's banned. If i take a medicine i want it to work and not make make me sick and red blotches!!! I hope with all the negative/ complaints we can get back regular Oxy's not the new version!! good luck to everyone trying to control their pain effectively...
when are they going to come back and is there any way to get a special order. i cant stand op and there not working there needs to be serious action taken. anything is abuseable if ABUSED from alchol to candy. every medication is potentially deadly and so is water if taken too much. there treating serious patients like children and my life is tougher because of it.
I have been taking 3 oxycontin 80s and 6 x 10/325 percocets daily for 5 years. I live in constant pain, even when I sleep. this new medicine does not work as indicated and is not a substitute for oxycontin. It should be illegal to substitute it. They are not following the doctors instructions in my opinion, what follows is a short article I wrote about the problem in response to a fellow that had a related concern and though you might benefit from its information.
Percocet contains oxycodone and tylenol (acetminophen). Originally Oxycontin was a time released form of oxycodone made with a wax so it would release over 6 to 12 hours, in theory. However, since 2006 the FDA had approved a Opana which is nothing like Oxycodone and sold as Oxycontin. Usually these pills will have OP on one side and dosage on other such as 10, 20, 40, or 80. Many people realize how dangerous taking Percocets are due to the Tylenol they contain due to the severe liver damage they can cause, even at normal dosages, particularly if you enjoy a beer or two from time to time. I am not talking alcoholic type drinking, but even casual drinking combined with percocets over a few year period can put you on the liver transpant list. Its horrible for the FDA to even allow this to happen.
They are so afraid of abuse by people who snort or shoot up that they seem to have no regard of the legitimate users of oxycontin. What happens is you may have taken oxycontin for years for chronic pain and your pharmacist is allowed to freely substitute it for Opana which is a completely different formulation and for many people not nearly as effective. Opana is Oxymorphone Hydrochloride. So what happens is you get withdrawal symptoms from Oxycodone when you start taking Opana, which is a slower and less effective medication in many peoples opinion. So your pain spikes, and you are forced to take your tylenol containing breakout pain medication like percocets or vicodin, causing liver damage. Then the next month you might fill your prescription at another pharmacy and they might give you real Oxycontin with Oxycodone and now you are withdrawing from Opana and likely feel better from a pain standpoint, but still have the runny nose, diarrhea, and feeling down or just want to lay in bed all the time.
Please write Purdue drugs and or FDA and let them know how you feel. This is a horrible abuse of physicians who try to give us effective medication and drug companies and FDA are selling us mislabeled drugs without telling us about it causing millions of the most vulnerable people in the US living in moderate to severe pain, many are disabled unwarranted distress and discomfort. It is criminal what is happening.
They would through you in jail if you mislabel organic fruits or vegetables on a wholesale basis, but the FDA has done this. We must through a fit about it.
Some people say asking for your oxycontin to be prescribed as oxycodone ER 80mg instead of using the Oxycontin label might help. Better yet is to have dr write, do not substitute Opana for Oxycodone on the Rx.
Mind you I am not a doctor or pharmacist, so some of my information could be wrong so please don't rely on it in any way to make decisions concerning your health, but do your own research via authoritative sources beside me.
Binda, they did try banning alcohol at one point, it was called Prohibition and didn't turn out well. Unfortunately, there are many more drinkers in the world, than there are Oxycontin users.
Have you all also reported your problems with the medication to the FDA? They are really the ones that you need to report it to, because if enough people are having problems, then they can use their leverage with Purdue to make them do something about it.
You can contact them at the following number and people doing this will get much more attention than any Facebook page will:
FDA MedWatch number:
800-332-1088

Are there any other questions or comments?
What can I do to help? I have always taken the oxy's as directed but the new OP gives me a horrible headache and makes me sick to my stomach. Is there a pettion going anywhere, I am more than happy to sign it. I will not continue to allow my insurance to pay such a ridiculous price for a pill that doesn't work. Are they going to reformulate every drug that someone od's on. Lets start banning ALCOHOL then.
Boy everything you said makes sense keep me posted. I would love to share my story and explain to Purdue who they have changed not only my life but my family's life. It is harder to get around now with these OP that do not work. Period
