Oxycontin Generics Oc80s
Updatedwe have been seeing the original oc 80's around here and was wondering if they are coming back already or if they oc's are replaced with the op's????

No, they aren't coming back, however there are many still on the street, due to all the theft and diversion that occurred, plus any pharmacies and hospitals can still provide or sell them, until they run out of stock.
Ethex is also a licensed distributor for Purdue and from what I have read in various posts, they have still had a stock of the original Oxycontin product.

On the current supply runs out, everyone will be forced to switch to the new product.
Are there any other questions or comments?
where do you live?
this guy has no clue what he is talkin about. the real ones are coming back.. my father was gettin the ruby reds.. the oc 60s.. anmd they changed to the ops which are junk.. but the last 2 months he sarted gettin the real ones again, and the same thing happened with my uncle with the purdue 80mg
Hello again,
Which state do you live in cuz I travel a lot and I rarely have time to look for pharmacies that have the old brand which is the ONLY medication that's EVER taken away the pain from my Madelung's deformities I was born with. I've been taking medication since I was 12 & can't work without them. I lost my parents when I was 17 so life has been incredibly hard since. If anyone can tell me where I could go to fill my prescriptions for the original OC 80 & 40mg medication, I'd be forever indebted to you for giving me my life back and ability to use my arms again....
I have been taking Oxycontin ER 80mg (x 60/month) for more than 5 years for yet to be diagnosed (but still trying to have it identified) 24/7 moderate to severe intra-abdominal pain. I have insurance but I will soon find myself yet again in the preverbial "donut hole" during which time I'll be virtually on my own insofar as having to pay the full retail price on my own (which is more than I receive in monthly Social Security Disability payments!). I used to be able to obtain it in generic form but I understand that, due to licensing/patent issues, the manufacturing of the generic form was discontinued. My question is this... How long will it be before the generic form will be available once again? I've attempted (with at least 4 seperate pain management doctors) to switch to a different kind of medication that would, (1) be as effective controlling my pain and, (2) be less expensive, but, so far, no luck. They tell me that either there isn't another drug available that would be as effective or, they "don't DO abdominal pain!" (can you believe THAT? Pain is pain, right? Anyway, does anyone have an answer for me? Sorry for the length of my "question," and I'll look forward to some, hopefully good, news!
Best regards and good health!
I live in California and I'm not interested in trying to buy my 80 mg. Oxy from a "street vendor"! Unlike some (many?) who are only interested in obtaining the drug to get high, I absolutely MUST have it in order to control my pain. I literally don't know what it means (or feels like) to be "high" on Oxy, either. When I take my pill, all I feel is pain relief and, if my I get break thru pain and attempt to deal with it by taking another one, all I get is a headache and nausea. I would like to find something for break thru pain, though. Would Opana be a good choice or should I look into switching completely over to that versus the Oxy 80's?
Also, I'm a bit confused about the mention of OP's versus OC's. What's that all about? Mine are a kind of a bluish green color with "80" imprinted on both sides of the pill, nothing else (no OP or OC). What, if anything, does that mean?
Not sure if my last post will get to you since I didn't reply directly to your post. In any case, I live in California and, from what I've been able to determine (at least in my immediate vicinity of North Orange County) NO ONE has anything BUT the original Oxycontin Tabs which has been difficult for me since the cost of the brand name drug is substantially more than when the generics were available and that gets me into the Medicare "donut hole" much faster now.
What does "OC" and "OP" mean, please?
Cat Lady, the OP is supposed to be a time released and tamper-proof formulation. Everyone seems to be looking for the OC version nowadays, but they are hard to come by. There are a lot of other discussion threads about this topic on the site, just have a look at: /topics/oxy-oc-op/. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually okay with timed release because I suffer from 24/7 moderate to severe abdominal pain so TR helps a lot. The only serious problem (as far as I'm concerned) I have with it is that it prevents me from being able to sleep if I need to take one anytime after 5 or 6pm and that's why I'd really like to find an alternative pain reliever that would be as effective as the Oxy but one that wouldn't affect my ability to sleep at night. Any suggestions, anyone?
Im sorry to hear about your sleeping problems . All opiates have this type of side affect . Besides maybe methadone i have found. Try a prescription sleep aid . Non narcotic would be safest maybe triazadone?
