Actually Turkey I just read a bunch of articles about Sandoz and Purdue Pharma, Sandoz is being allowed in Australia only to distribute their brand of generic oxycontin. It's blocked so far in every other country. A US judge is protecting Purdue's patent, which those of us who take it know the OP formulation as (Oxy Poison). Of course a judge is protecting a crappy patent and making Purdue Pharma rich! From what I read this patent is good till 2023, which in itself is insane. These aren't tamper proof as they still lie about that! I'm not going to tell people here how to get 95% of the active ingredient out. It just takes about 20 minutes instead of instantly like before, in my book that's not tamper proof and the Purdue Pharma lie is still alive. The people who take it are the victims as usual. Only in America is a drug addict given higher status than someone suffering. Maybe we should all move to Australia? Purdue Pharma made $2.8 billion in 2011 in oxycontin sales, so yes they'll protect their crappy patent to the death and the American government will protect them because of generous campaign contributions to both parties! Welcome to America fellow chronic pain sufferers! The prices Australians are paying for these Sandoz generics show why Purdue Pharma is terrified, it's a crime in itself how much we pay for brand name oxycontin!

I just finished 18 years of opioid abuse which all started in 97 with oc80s...heck..they had oc160s too back then. Now I am clean and sober thanks only to suboxone strips and know that the op reformulation saved me. To the guy posting about subutex or suboxone saying doc is weaning you off with oxycodone and you're tempted to do that..dont! Its wasting your time. Give yourself a break. I tried to do what my doc said 4 times and relapsed cuz it wasnt right: wait 12 hrs since last opioid intake, then take half a strip every 8 hrs (3 times a day). After much agony (wait more than 12 hrs to avoid precipitated wd) I figured out taking 20 hrs off and then taking whole strip...wait an hr to see if that worked...if not take another half strip (I took another whole...so 4 times what i was prescribed). I then took as prescribed a half strip 3 times a day...every 6 to 8 hrs or so. This stuff builds up and can stay in brain clogging opioid receptors for 3 days easily...even 5 days. I did 3 times a half strip for 3 days...then rapidly tapered down before id get too hooked. I am now clean 23 days and take a quarter strip every 2 days and have been doing that intake amount for 6 days [3 x qtr strip). You can last a week and not even consume a whole strip. You can take a third of a strip every time you feel withdrawal...wait an hr if you stil feel s***ty repeat. Oh...and the first cpl days you should do what i didnt....get immodium for diarrhea and over counter sleep meds cuz you wont sleep. I go to aa and na every day and only talk to sober and spiritually sound ppl. I recommend you give yourselves a break if you're abusing pills or doing opioids for no good reason. Dont let rock bottom make you quit...let it be this post from a 32 yr old who started when he was 14. I wasted my life. But in the 3 weeks clean i got the love of family back...great apartment....my daughter...new nob and new job offers and felllowship of clean and sober men from AA...and NA (but do aa....even if you're an addict...trust me).

My doc had me on OxyContin 40 about year and a half ago they just stop working I even chewed them up but that didn't work ether all they do now is give me depression I used to take one and could work no pain but now they aren't worth nothing Advil work about the same they need to change them back to the way they were there just ripping us and the insurance off

you obviously don't have a clue they do not all turn into morphine. oxycodone turns into oxymorphone and noroxycodone hydrocodone turns into hydromorphone and nor hydrocodone. look it up for your self. use an actual reputable website not a forum.

They need to because sure is alot of us saying same thin & The price they are putting on them is wrong. Like when i start to take them 30mg. Oxycontin 12 hour TIME RELEASE. WERE 60 COUNT $340. NOW UP OVER $700.,THAT IS WRONG !!!!!! God bless to all chronic pain patients THE government has a war against us. !!!!!!

It's not entirely true that "When someones truly in pain they DON'T GET HIGH!"

When someone is initially prescribed the proper drugs, it is normal for them to enter la-la land. Euphoria is a recognized side effect of narcotic medicines. It's a side effect that subsides with continued use, however, while the pain relief continues to be effective. It is because this side effect subsides that those taking it to get high seek larger and larger doses, and it is because the pain relief continues to be effective after the euphoria subsides that those who take it for pain relief do not need to take higher and higher doses. At least not right away. Eventually the pain relief subsides too, but not at anywheres near the rate at which the euphoria side effect subsides.

Now, if only the constipation side effect would subside. Unfortunately, it gets worse at higher doses. I think it is this side effect that is one of the reasons people taking the drug for pain relief choose not to bother seeking euphoria, even though by definition ("feeling good") it would be nice to have. For those of us who just seek pain relief, euphoria would be a luxury that we cannot afford because the larger doses needed to reach it would necessarily increase our tolerance to the drug and hence reduce our pain relief. And continued pain relief is much more important than transient euphoria. If there is anything good to say about the new OP formula, it is that the way the body of the pill mixes with stool before the drug is absorbed in the colon, more water is retained in the stool than would be the case with the old formula and constipation is slightly less of a problem.

Hoping not to change the subject too much:

The relatively new laxative "Miralax" (PEG-3300) is a distant relative of the substance that makes up the OP pill's body (PEO-6000000), and I've found that although the latter is not a laxative, it helps Miralax last longer and more evenly because of the way the two substances mix with each other. With the old OC formula, I'd need Miralax daily to stop the constipation, and I'd end up with diarhhea. With the new OP formula, I can take Miralax once every three days, and have good movements daily without incurring the diahhrea that daily Miralax use would result in.

Since OPuser claims Oxycontin never provided an instant release and that "no literature exists that says it did" here is Purdue's official literature from 1996 that explains exactly how the original Oxycontin release system worked and on the very first page of it the instant release properties of the OC tablets is mentioned.

Hi Cynthia.. I'm happy you found someone to work with . do you live in the Denver area by chance? if so have any good recommendations on a pain doc. god bless and may you keep your pain at a tolerable level. you reminded me have this has affected not only myself my relationship my children my grandson and of course a social life? What is that? Recreational activities? What are they? Anyone on this site who does not suffer you are blessed. because those of us who are in chronic pain under medicated have absolutely no life at all.

Everyone living in Sydney Australia there are new Generic Oxycontin's from Sandoz brand only available at chemist warehouse SurryHills, Darlinghurst, Newtown and Maroubra or you can order from there website. There are much better than the reformulated OP bulls*** that gives you stomach and headaches, and yes they are like the original oc's only difference is that they have an oily residue in powder. Message back if anyone knows how to get other brands or sources. Cheers

WSPAat do you guys find to be the best combination on the slow release along with the immediate release pain meds. I take 30mg OContin along with the 15mg IR oxycone.......neither really helps.... i. Usually just lie in bed praying for some kind of relief!!!! Also does anyone else get sick in their upper rt. Quadrant (in front of their liver from being constipated? ? I take this liquid called lactulose which often helps move it through. ....man...the bottom line is i just want to feel normal or comfortable again before I leave this earth!!! Im so tired of going to my pain management Dr. And getting my 2 Rx's and then heading off on a wild goose chase to find a pharmacy that actually carries them in stock. Every month i start to worry that i wont find it and end up in withdrawal! ! This last month i was going to try zohydro er, the Dr,'S assist. Wrote it for #60 2 x a day (when i had been on 30mg oxycontin 3 x day....which was a big cut in the amount (he tried to tell me that zohydro er lasts for 24 hrs!!! When i knew for a fact it was only 12 hrs.....so i left feeling even more screwed than normal.....i.spent the next 3 hours trying to find a pharmacy that actually carries them and couldn't! !!!! By now im in withdrawal and i called zogenix, the company that manufacturers it and they have a service th at calls within about a 10 mile radius of my home to try and find it. So I got home feeling horrible and got I got into bed praying they would call me....3 hours later they call me saying they CANT FIND ANYONE WHO CARRIES IT ( what am i a lab rat? So now im in full withdrawall and it was too late to go back to the dr!!!) So i suffer all night in horrible withdrawal..... and because im the so sick i had to call a taxi to drive me back to this jacka** dr.'s assistant to exchange my prescription for the 30mg oxycontin. ........then i had to drive very around in a taxi feeling as if im going to barf!!!! Five pharmacies later i found them....now im a pretty tough guy who played football game for 17 seasons and i almost broke down right there and cried!!!! The sad part about this isb that im sure this kind of thing happens all over our country EVERY SINGLE DAY TO HONEST HARDWORKING GOOD GOD FEARING PEOPLE. And the ones who cause it are the drug addicts and the clueless panty waste politicians who pass laws to make it impossible for us to just make a simple drive to our local pharmacy! !!! Am i going in sane? Because it sure feels like it. I think im gonna have a good cry now!!! If, by the way, someone knows of a pharmacy in the Newport Beach, So. Cal California area who usually carries 30mg oc please let me know... in fact let me know if you have ANY ideas that could make my monthly experience a little bit easier, I would appreciate it so much!! :) God bless all of you who struggle with pain like I do, maybe one of us could write a letter to whoever is in power and share some of these sad but true stories. I get the oxycodone Sandoz 80mg modified release tablets and have been getting them for quite some time now since last year when they came out here in aus as they didn't take to long to come out in Australia after the horrible OxyContin reformulated oxy/op came out my pharmacist orders in 112 x 80mg oxycodone Sandoz brand for me and 20mg oxynorm instant release each month! They are the original formula and not reformulated at all they are good I reckon just as good as the old oc but them oxy op were horrible things hated em so much only in Australia not the U.S. Or anything sorry guys I am sure you can get the original formula in Canada but...

Hello, I was recently put back on the OxycontinER 80mg after 9 months of torture having to just take OxyIR 240mg daily. It took that long to get Medicaid (obamafailcare) to cover it 2x daily. And this pill does not last 12hr, maybe 6-7 hrs max. I was taking the 60mg x3 daily for over 3 yrs, until my insurance skyrocketed and had to go on state assisted health insurance. They either need to go back to the drawing board with this "intact" pill pouch so that it releases over 12hr, or stop the false marketing saying the pill works for 12hrs. It does not. I also don't think all of the medicine is being released out of the pill's bladder as I have seen the pill in my stole with medcine still in the pill

I had 6 failed lower back operations damage nerve scar tissue on nerve 5 deterioration disc upper back 3 severe multiple bone spurs 3 failed knee operations got another bulging disc under my cages in my lower back 2 bulging disc in my neck. And I been on so any different pain meds and the 40mg oxycontin SUCK they take way to long to work and only last 6 hours and I'm on 15mg oxycodone those op 40mg one came out in my stool still round but turn white. They have put to much JUNK in the 40s that they do not work good

My dad has been on 3 80s a day for over 15 yrs and he says he has to eat 3 to even touch the pain. When he had the OC 1 would last him till dinner. I understand the reasons this happened. I myself fell victim to the Oxy epidemic for over 10 yrs. During those years I made many friends with cancer patients and disabled vets and I feel bad they can't get the relief they need. All because of a bored generation. I honestly believe Oxycontin is the worst human invention besides the atomic bomb.

This is exactly as I feel. I don't like to feel high! I switched to ms contin for believe it or not they give more pain relief without so much feeling sick to your stomach as new formulation of Oxicontin, made me feel. I actually felt normal again with the original oxicontin! I got out of bed and people around me thought I was well again, as I also was able to go back to work!I cannot function as well on ms contin, therefore most days I end up back on my bed. That never happened on the original oxycontin! One thing I liked about the original oxy is it didn't make me feel tired as all other er medications do. At this point Opana is ruined too...no relief of pain & I went through withdrawal symptoms the month I tried them. I had tried them before they changed, but felt that tiredness in my head. I don't like to feel or look dopey. I never wanted to be on pain meds & tried all else for many years! I would love to work again besides selling on ebay, but that's all i can do from my bed because although pain is relieved they keep me tired. I miss the quality of my life on the original oxy. Makes me angry people had to abuse such a serious medication, which helps people who really needed it for serious medical issues. The one medicine which let me feel myself again with no side effects but gave pain relief enough to work & feel a functional person in society. I pray one day the world stops catering to people who abuse meds & put seriously ill patients on top of priorities....

I am so sorry that your being treated that way!! You go and protect your country and are disrespected that's unforgivable. I don't understand how some people can be so self involved! I can't help but care. I was diagnosed with an extremely rare chronic pain/kidney disease but for the first 3 years I was treated like an addict. Once I got diagnosed I wanted to do d the dozens of DR's who dismissed me because they thought I must of been making it up.
I'm not an angry or vindictive person by any means. But I think drs need to be accountable for their mistakes, or at least be Aware oh them. So maybe the next time a young healthy woman with blood in her urine and in such excruciating pain she had been crying for days and unable to keep even meds down.
Just because you can't see the answer right in front of you doesn't automatically make me a lying addict. Good luck to everyone! I hope you all get the good stuff back!

C'mon now, I'm not a really computer literate guy. I'm angry & frustrated. Did anyone out there know that there is a tv drama series focusing on oxycontin? Un f*****g believable. Think I saw it's in its 1st season up to episode 3 now!!! Anyone seen that show Intervention? Anyone seen that episode on Vice Channel? (I have Verizon for my provider). They actually showed an illicit drug dealer "spiking" 1 of his packages with Chinese (pretty sure Chinese) fentanyl deliberately to cause someone to overdose & die? Want to know why? Because when someone od's & dies all the junkies want his "stuff" (love to use more choice words, but I want this fact to reach more people).

Nice business model huh? I am Catholic, I have a loving wife who has stood by me all these long years as well as 3 children I absolutely adore. Suicide is a sin, as well as a chicken s*** cowardly way to go out. That would be quite the legacy to leave for my family, besides the rotting in Hell part. Why don't we have (forget the correct term for the dirty rotten people who advocate for the drug companies, politicians, yeah that's the right despicable word). Of everything I've read on this site we are the victims who don't seem to count. My primary doc once told me that I blame other people. Anyone else out there been in the armed forces? We all volunteered to SERVE our country to uphold this great nation. Politics, politicians, special interest groups & the Military Industrial Complex (read President Eisenhower's Bok for an overview) $$$ is the name of the game.
Naloxone, Subutex, Methadone... Some people are addicts (I feel like an addict-especially when termed by medical "professionals" as a drug seeking individual. My God!

Is there no one who has the courage to stand up for us? IS THERE NO ONE OUT THERE THAT HAS THE BALLS TO HELP US!?!?! I broke down in tears during my last visit with my "pain specialist". Anyone else out there know that these people are the highest paid Doctors? All these ones I've dealt with are anesthesiologists.
As a matter of fact here in my state quite a few are partners in "medical marijuana shops".

OP aren't just the generic version, they have also modified the way it releases and the potential for abuse. It's supposed to be harder to tamper with for people that like to abuse them. The real problem is, they seem to make a lot of people very sick. There is a type of plasticizer in it, that's what is supposed to make it abuse proof. Some people taking it as prescribed, r getting terrible gut aches. Also reporting feeling shaky and kidney paid too. Also withdrawal. Maybe because it's taking longer to absorb? I don't know.
