Oxycontin 80mg Op Are Going Back To Oc (Top voted first)
Updatedswitching back to original form
The originals are back! The ops are being taken off due to long term side effects so the original oxycontin 80mg Round BLUE /GREENISH COLOR ARE BACK
please help those in pain, go back to the old oxycontin asap! My son is in horrible pain since they changed it. he had a fairly functional life until they changed the formula. now he can hardly get out of the house and function. how do we get the old ones back. they changed it so the druggies wont hurt themselves. what about the poor innocent ones, who are not addicted. just trying to function !
Robin wrote: "need help for filling priscription haveing to take3 80 a day have gragalated higher over 13 years lost my incheranece help please my body wont funchen with out the op are not any thing like the oc"
Why would you say you lost your incoherence? Reading your message, it really does not sound as though you have! I'm having a hard time trying to understand you.
I'm guessing that "gragalation" is the act of performing "gragal", but what the heck IS "gragal"? Does it have anything to do with the ancient Chinese art of Fun Chen?
Does gragalating really get you high? or is it just the endorphins kicking in after a good Fun Chen session?
And if your health is such that you need to take 240 mg a day, is it even SAFE for you to practice Fun Chen?
Or am I completely misinterpreting you, and "gragalating" is something akin to becoming Clear with dianetics?
what can we do to speed up the process to get the old oxycontin back in our system, to be able to function in this world. not be in pain, in the house, looking out the window. remembering houw the oxycontin use to able me to go out and join the world. i have horrible pain and to young to have to live like this knowing there is something out there that helped me. and my understanding is, the druggies will hurt themselves, so they changed the formula. what about us ! the druggies have already moved on to other drugs ! WHAT ABOUT US !
Wait a minute are you saying that the green OC 80mg are back ?
Chuckles the Clown says: "the new ops 80mg.does, not stop my pain because it;s not the same and it does not ,ease my pain because, my pain is so severe, when they go back to,the old one,s like 80 mg. Oxycontin, witch made my pain ease up better than these new one,s"
Why is it that nearly all of the people complaining are complete functional illiterates? Could it be that they dropped out of school to concentrate on their habit?
It's ridiculous to see post after post contain rants like this one that (while pretending to be from parents, doctors, teachers, etc) are clearly from people who obviously never got past the sixth grade! Why bother? You are not fooling anyone! (except maybe others like yourself)
no wonder they changed the formula so now it doesn't work for those of us who really need it! When someones truly in pain they DON'T GET HIGH! unless their on the wrong meds! they just get relief from the pain!! and the op's no longer work as well plus they make you sick every time you take a dose! i take 80mg 5x a day since recent new injuries after taking them 4 a day for 6 years the oc's were great i could actually get out of bed and function and i LOVED THE FACT I NEVER FELT HIGH!!! just able to function, and when the DR wanted to raise me to 5 a day i was concerned i might suddenly start getting high HA what a JOKE the op's are such crap the only difference i've noticed is i get sick 5 times a day instead of 4 other than that can't even notice ANY signs my dose was increased. The majority of fools on this site should know their working just fine for them judging by their incoherent email YOU'RE THE ONES we people who are in REAL pain have to suffer!!
Where can u find the 80oc is Walgreen only place that has them
I've been on pain meds for 13 years and have had over 30 operations on my legs. I've lived in Vegas, Hawaii, Cali and Ut. I've found that it's best to stick with a small local Pharmcy. Get to know them and tell them you will be filling there each month. They will keep your supply and no more driving around for hours looking to find them.
Still be grateful, i was shot twice in iraq defending the country and now need a four disc spinal fusion and the doctor even took my tramadol away....i take over daily dose of tylenol and asprin a day and still stuck crying in my bed 23 hours a day
Re: Postal canary (# 246)
You're exactly right! I got to a point that I couldn't take the 60mg or 80mg any longer because the stomach pain it caused was unbearable after years of use... Plus you're lucky if they worked for 8 hours and a lot of times only lasted 6 hours giving you any tolerance towards your pain whatsoever! I'm so sick and tired of being a suffering victim of an out of control over reaching government. We are the true victims of the lost and futile war on drugs. It's just like our government to victimize a severely injured person a second time with more failed policies, make the victim the perpetrators and then act as if nothing has happened... Business as usual for the American government! The pharmaceutical companies have basically ruined all types of narcotics with the government's help using our tax dollars and big incentives for those who participate in their one size fits all socialist attack on innocent suffering Americans! Almost nothing narcotic works as it did years ago from analgesics, sedatives, stimulants and etc...
Look at all the various threads here on Medschat.com about any type of narcotic medications and you'll see one thing in common, nothing works like it use to! The drug addicts aren't getting high, but people with various conditions are needlessly suffering because of the sheer lunacy of the government's complete overreach into the lives of people who have done nothing wrong! People with legitimate needs for narcotic analgesics, sedatives, ADD meds, ADAD meds and so on have been reduced to 3rd class citizens in their own country! Shame on these looney politicians! Don't go after bad doctors or drug addicts who both break the law, go after legitimate patients and make them suffer and pay for the government's inability to control anything! Welcome to America, where the innocent will always pay for the sheer ignorance of the government!
No, women did not serve as soldiers in that war, but my husband, who left his leg behind there. fighting people whom he was brainwashed by his superiors to think of as "gooks", did!
But you do not know me any more than I know you. I have great respect for nam vets like my husband. HE did not dwell on his losses, but went back to school after the war ended. Before he was drafted, he had only been a high school dropout, but after returning, he went on to get his PHD with uncle sam's help! Yes, even now he still has some bitterness. You can't help that. But he did not let it stand in his way. And his drive to accomplish all that he did, in the face of all that he lost IS something truly deserving of respect.
Yes, I still get prescribed the OC
let's be honest and clear here. Purdue pharmaceuticals did not reformulate the drug oxycontin / oxycodone because people were abusing it. Purdue pharmaceuticals patent was about to run out in 2010 and in order for Purdue to renew their patent they reformulated the drug so that they could continue to keep the monopoly they have over this medication. They made the medication tamper proof so that they could say we reformulated this because people were abusing the medicine when in reality the truth is they reformulated the medicine so they could continue to keep a stranglehold monopoly over the medication, don't let them fool you into thinking they ever cared about anyone abusing it they care only about continuing to ensure the billions of dollars that oxycontin brings in every year continue's, they do not care about my pain and they do not care about your pain if they did they would not have reformulated this medication and they would have allowed generics to come into play but that would cut their profits down by more than half which is unacceptable to Big Pharma. In closing I would like to say Purdue did not reformulate the medication oxycontin because people were abusing it and dying from it they reformulated the drug oxycontin so they could renew their patent and continue the stranglehold monopoly that the FDA has given them over this drug and continue to rake in billions of dollars every year not caring one bit that this new medication is only half as effective and good people in honest pain are suffering every single day. Purdue pharmaceuticals should be ashamed of themselves and ashamed of their false claims of actually giving a s*** about anyone or anything except lining their own pockets with billions of dollars which is why they reformulated the drug so they could continue to line their own pockets and continue to have a monopoly over this medication. thank you wake up everyone they dont care about any of us. Goodluck to all who have honest chronic pain. thank you
Where are the pictures Oxy 80, of the boxes of 80s? I don't believe it to be true.
Your post is so wrong. The op 40mg purdue pharma was forced to put junk in their pills so drug addicts could not abuse it, and they are now so hard I had one pass right through me - and I'm not the only one it happened to. Purdue pharma lied about the 40mg and 80mg lasting 12 hours just to make billions and they did. Companies did trials and proved it was a lie. I did a test: I put HOT WATER in a glass and dropped a 40mg in it the hot water got warm and the pill did not melt so I put more HOT WATER in and still did not melt. I have been through 6 failed lower back operations with damaged nerves, scar tissue on nerve 5, deteriorated disc in upper back, 3 severe multiple bone spurs, and I have another bulging disc at the L3 level under my cages, and 2 bulging discs in my neck, and I need both my knees replaced. And those 40mg do not work. Purdue pharma even said they know that there 40mg do not work good at all and said they're going to file a class action lawsuit to go back to the OC.
Why do you believe it was the worst invention ,when it was helping your father and hundreds of thousands of people around the world with their suffering .When people like you say things like that it really makes me angry .I would not want to give my worst enemy the pain I live with ,but I would like to give it to some people for a week and see how wonderful the quality of thier life is for that one week.I am lucky enough that I have the choice of stopping dialysis to end my suffering .I have already started the palliative care process ,but my family are begging me not to go through with it .I never thought at 54 years old I would give up but how much suffering should one do .I have no quality of life since the medication was changed .I did not know anything about the change until I filled my script and all in one week I was getting litttle to no pain relief and even brought them back to the pharmacy to make sure there was not a mistake and that's when I was told .The next month I went to the pharmacy at the hospital and they asked me if I would not mind if they gave me some of the original oxy they still had in stock .They gave me 14 of them that was the last seven days I had without pain 5 years ago . Since then I have worked with pain specialists and have tried every pain medication available most being up to 10 x stronger than Oxycontin ,iam no scientist but I do not know why oxy worked forme .I was entirely a different person than I am now i used to have energy and able to push myself to the limit now I spend most days in bed except for going to dialysis .Sorry to be so long ,but Please think more carefully before making statements like that .i am sorry there are addicts but they chose it ,I did not but we are all paying for thier mistakes.
You think Dr's and pharmacies actually care if the meds work or not. It's all about money to them. The way you talk you've never had chronic pain or never had to take BS meds to try to relieve it. You should really keep your mouth shut if you don't have a clue what yours talking about. It's highly offensive to the rest of us that do have to live with it.
I have suffered from pain due to injuries since the week before my 21st birthday. didn't start taking pain meds til 3rd injury which occured in my early 50's Have suffered long enough and at my age just too tired to fight the pain any longer Have now developed fibromyalgia as well as another condition which has stopped my body from producing ANY natural endorphenes any more! just had a 4th accident nov. 26th and am in more pain than ever! have maintained same dose of pain meds for 6 years as DO NOT PLAY AROUND WITH PRESCRIBED DOSE also dr. has me taking another med. which help prevent developing a tolerence (namenda) was upset when the generics came out and they were NOT as effective! so releaved when they swithed back!! Now they've screwed things up with these new op's because of fools that don't even have a legit need for them, are stupidly snorting them!!! these op's make you nauses and are Not AS EFFECTIVE!!!! these are people who are always going to find something to abuse but those of us who rely on the med to have any hope of functioning are being screwed. I just hope and pray purdue will find the strength to fight for the people who TRUELY need the med. for legit reasons will go back to the old formula so that people who are intitled to a chance at a life are not forced to change to other meds which have all kinds of side effects which oc's did not have and worked better than pretty much everything else til they switched to the damn op's
After reading some of the posts regarding the topic of the original formulation of Oxycontin, I realized there is quite a bit of misunderstanding about how and why Purdue Pharma changed its formulation, what the loss of patent means, and whether or not they will be returning to the original formulation. Also, the question rises as to whether or not any of the generic medication companies will produce the original OC formulation to put back into the market. I would like to help clarify some of these questions by providing the following information which I have researched as both a Registered Nurse and personal chronic pain patient resulting from failed back surgery.
1. Purdue Pharma changed its original long acting formulation (the OC) at the request of the FDA due to the overwhelming widespread abuse of the medication simply by removing the outer covering. They achieved the reformulation by incorporating the controlled release mechanism into the tablet rather than just coating the tablet. The unfortunate effect of this action was first and foremost the loss of effectiveness of a medication that had worked wonderfully for many patients with chronic pain. Another unfortunate effect of this new formulation was the development of various gastrointestinal medical issues occurring in patients taking the new OP formulation. I developed gastritis from the OP formulation, which caused severe nausea and the lining of my stomach to bleed. My MD chose to switch me over to Opana (another oxy-based medication) that has worked very well at a third of the dose as compared to the Oxycontin. Purdue Pharma has received and documented many complaints and concerns in regards to the OP formulation. If you or someone you know is taking or has taken the OP formulation and suffered any adverse effects I strongly suggest you contact Purdue and have it documented by the company's quality control division. You never know...maybe with enough of these types of concerns on record the government will allow a return to the OC formulation.
2. Purdue Pharma Canada did not initially follow the US in changing the formulation, but did so within a year of the change in the US. Purdue Canada also received many concerns and complaints of various medical problems associated with the OP formulation and decided to go back to the original formulation (OC) to improve patient safety and effectiveness. With this knowledge, many states along the northern border with Canada have passed laws making it illegal to get your medication in Canada and bring it back across the border.
3. Noticing many questions about the meaning of the loss of Purdue's patent on Oxycontin, I hope this will clarify what exactly that means. It is not the loss of a patent, but rather the patent expired, thus allowing companies making generic brands of medication to make Oxycontin under its generic name of oxycodone hydrochloride controlled or extended release. Just prior to the expiration of Purdue's patent on Oxycontin, our congress passed a law preventing any companies making generic medication from making the original OC formulation. Meaning that all medication companies in the US could only produce the OP formulation.
4. At this time, Purdue Pharma-USA has indicated to me via telephone conversation that they do not have any plans or timelines of returning to the original OC formulation. As the incidents of heroin use, abuse, and overdose resulting in death are on the rise as more and more people replace the oxycontin use with the use of heroin, hopefully our government will see the need to allow the reproduction of the original OC formulation. If someone is going to use or abuse any substance, I would rather it be sourced from a reputable company than depend on something obtained on the street with no idea of how its made or what exactly it contains.
Although I agree that the abuse of oxycontin for the sole purpose of getting a "high" has made it much more difficult for chronic pain patients to get the treatment they need to maintain a tolerable quality of life; I also realize that the people abusing such substances are self medicating for another problem...I would rather they do this safely, with a known substance, than with something simply picked up on the street containing any number of unknown lethal substances.
I hope this has clarifies some of the questions and concerns regarding what is going on with Purdue Pharma and the Oxycontin issue.
