Oxycontin 10mg Er Not Working And Bad Side Effects (Page 2)
UpdatedI've been taking oxycontin 10mg for 2 years for chronic nerve pain after back surgery. I've gotten a few different kinds from different manufacturer's. I noticed that a couple of months ago that they didn't seem to be working. More pain, along with some pretty awful withdrawal-like symptoms. Also, they were coming out exactly the same as they went in. (not sure how to put THAT nicely-sorry!) After I did some checking, I found that the manufacturer was different. I did some research, and even contacted the company and sent some back, but they said they were OK. Yeah, right!! My next RX I got the old brand that HAD worked the months before. Now that manufacturer is not making them anymore, so now I'm taking another one. (They are all generic.) Well, it's happening again. More pain, withdrawal, etc. Has anyone else had this happen? And of course, you can't get a new RX cuz your dr. thinks you just want more. I never abuse them-I never take more than I'm prescribed. I just would like to know if anyone else has had this happen?? I sure can tell a difference. Thanx
Reading these answers, i dont see one that actually
tells u why the oxy actually starts to not work as good.
It is the nature of all pain medications, that after so long your body becomes, ( for use of a better name)
used to taking the meds, what usually happens is u dont get the same effect u used too, next thing is your mind tells u I need a stronger dosage, these are not working as well, Then u get stronger ones, your body gets used to those, pretty soon your going i need a stronge dosage, im not gettting the same effect i did,
mostly they dont seem to be working as fast. This happens with nearly all medications and can easly lead to addiction. My suggestion is try not to take to many for a while till your body starts to feel like it did when u first started taking em, then return to regular dosage, as in pain meds, its the nature of the beast, longer u take em,
they seem to begin to not give u the effect u got at first.
Ok, here we go. Does pain affect your dealings, if u seem to always flare up when u believe people are playing mind games with you especially from professionals, the mental stratagies and manipulation used by the medical profession is ludicrous, and i don't tolerate not one kids.
Just had to reply since it seems we're closely related with perscriptions and I'm so frustrated. Have neuropathy really, really bad in feet and legs and been on 5mg of oxycodone for a few years now...just feel like the pain is getting worse. Don't abuse but do need it every few hrs especially in the mornings...very bad sleep at night so my Dr. gave me a prescription for Oxycotin 10 mg controlled release...guess what the pharmacy gave me 15mg of oxycodone by mistake..never slept better..well in the last 5 years anyway...I also didn't know these drugs could be generic. Tonight will be my first on the oxycotin 10 mg so I'll be able to see the difference. I had to bring in the 'mistake'...it's really a long story...they didn't charge me...big red flag...any suggestions.
Only on the street. Not a good option. See a Dr if you need pain relief.
