I'm taking 5 mg of oxycodone 2x's a day. Can I split the pink oxycodone 10 mg hcl k 56 in half and use up extra tablets that I have in hand? I am 71 and for the past 6 months been in pain management for herniated discs lower back. I recently stopped the lowest doses of oxycodone/acetaminophen and morphine er. Did not help pain. Dr and I have just about exhausted trying many pain meds. Yesterday he prescribed 10mg methadone. I cut them in half. This morning I took 10mg. Wish I had not done that. I could deal with the little upset stomach but the dizziness lasted almost 9 hours..terrible. I will take 5mg once or twice a day thru weekend but pain level still at a 9. I do take oxycodone 5 mg every 12 hours and I take naproxen 440 mg every 8 hours. I have swelling of my feet ankles and lower legs, mostly on the left. The anti-inflamatory properties of the naproxen doesn't seem to help the swelling to reduce at all. What could be inhibiting this? I am also type 2 diabetic and take 1000 mg twice a day. I also mix turmeric and ginger into my herbal tea, at least once per day. I had a TKA done 6 weeks ago. I am taking 1-2 Oxycodone 5 mg now just at bedtime. I don't like taking it, but I've found I still need it at night for pain management along with Celebrex. I've been told by my Dr. that I can't drive until I am off the Oxycodone. Since I'm only taking it a night am I still ok to drive or not? I have seen two different looks on the blue A51 oxycodone pills. One is a lighter blue and the other is a dark blue almost purple looking in color and also is almost chunky when broke it up. Had a Septoplasty and bil submucous resection turbinates today; was given a rx for this pain med and had it filled at CVS. I don't take pain medications in daily life. It has not effect at all...it's not that it is not strong enough...it just does nothing. I'm not allowed to take an NSAID or Tyl OTC so needless to day I'm miserable tonight.
